Spence - Record sale?

Traore was reported £18m plus £2m add ons, but yes I think 20% of the profit went to Villa and I think we paid £7m for him.

In real terms Juninho was our biggest ever sale @ £12.5m in 1997, but in relative terms the £500,000 for David Mills in January 1979 which was a record British transfer fee (£80m today?)

of course we can, if we can bring in a big profit.

Djed's attitude was always an issue, and could harm the team spirit, some times you cut and run from situations. We just have to do it on OUR terms.

one thing is for certain, we can't ever allow a situation where we have a player with undoubted quality bombed out as he is deemed not good enough or having an attitude problem, to then go to a top 4 prem team and watch his career potentially go from strength to strength.

Given what has passed selling him is absolutely the best course of action, however, it is a sad indictment of previous regimes that it has come to this
I think its a sad reflection on the modern day footballer and Djed himself. Listen to what other pros who Warnock gas managed say about him. Players from other teams who he's previously managed still call him gaffer. Jones has praised him for his development. I think that the loan and having the bit between his teeth from what Warnock said to him has motivated him and driven him on which was backed up by his twitter post at Warnock.

The Djed Spence I remember was in the opposition half languidly trotting back as someone who he should have been marking put the ball in the back of the net.

As I look back on his time at Boro I was hugely impressed with his debut season for us, but then it all just turned bitter, which in no doubt was driven by his poor attitude. He didn't set the world alight here, and whilst he did well at Forest I firmly believe Jones is a better player. Perhaps a controversial opinion, but I do not see Spence being a success for Spurs or anyone else in the Premier League.

Need to factor for inflation too, but we would have got over 25m for Adama, had he not had the clause.

15m is very good though, for now, when money is relatively tight after Covid etc.

What is even better though, is to me, it's over the odds, and that never happens with us. Also it's a player which we don't need, and where we also have a better replacement and where we've just got a lad in on loan on the other side (our problem) who to me is better than Spence, and maybe as good as Jones.

absolutely this. In the right environment this kid will go all the way. England player
At RB/RWB? That's our most covered position for England.

Also, Spence is best suited to RWB, but we don't really play with wing backs.

You could fill a full side of those who could play RB/ RWB for England.

He might get in the squad one day, and maybe even a cap, but that's going to be very hard to do when he's going to be competing for a place at Spurs.

It'll aid his England hopes the fact the media have been spunking over him all year, and now he's got a big money move to the capital. Imagine he starts well, a few weeks in there'll be already saying can he force his way into Gareth's plans but above is right, there's 9 right backs id rather have (playing RB, or RWB) ahead of Spence.

Medical this afternoon after 15mill fee finalised for him according to a couple of Twitter accounts 🤷‍♂️

Luckily Gareth likes at least 10 Right Backs in his starting lineup.
