A big chunk of land that. It's well out of town though and more suitable for Y&E who as you say, could be looking to develop their own place.

I think it's a mistake for the council to want to push grounds to the outskirts. The new development in Billingham will be on the old Campus site, in the middle of Low Grange and easily accessible to so many.

The site is massive but I take your point if the council want them out of town / residential but I think moving them out of town so to speak would do the club more harm than good.

Like I say Yarm and Eaglescliffe are miles away fro being able to develop a ground like that
It’s Stocktons junior set up that set the foundations for their development

Y&E need a space to develop. Boro Rangers have managed it, so why not? They don't have to have all that Stockton have now, they need to satisfy Northern League demands and go from there, as Stockton did to start with.

They're managing now by playing in Billingham but that's certainly not in their long term plans.

As I mentioned earlier, lots of clubs are building from age 7 or so upwards, it hasn't always been the case.

I do wonder what will happen to the Bishopton Road ground should Stockton relocate.

I was there that day. There was a roof on the away end by the mind...The rain was hammering down and blowing sideways and got totally soaked walking to the ground. Some monster puddles behind the away end to negotiate.

We were awful that day..well beaten by a rubbish Oldham side...

It was a grim away day that one. The only away game I got wetter at was Barnsley in Robbos promotion season.
 
Stockton are to trial a segregation system in their home game tomorrow
I’m guessing to result will go some way to deciding how they are going to manage the Trophy game against Oldham
Looking at the weather forecast mind I’d imagine the crowd will be down

It makes sense and something I mentioned earlier in the thread.

Do you have something to do with Stockton or do you watch them regularly?

I was at the 4-1 Higgy debut game at Oldham. Terrible day out.

Re rain, I vaguely recall getting utterly drenched at Forest one year, 2-2 draw IIRC but biblical rain.

My youngest lad now lives within walking distance of the ground goes to most home games (work permitting) and will be there tomorrow. He normally goes in the Elm Tree Club before and after and took me in there when Stockton beat Dunston in the play-offs.

Seem to remember Forest in the FA Cup whe. Clough was still there. It was a draw and replay at Ayresome we lost..

Absolutely torrential rain walking down to the city ground...go soaked that day.

My first ever game was Boro v Oldham in 1966 in the 3rd division. They beat us 2-0.

I think they just about are unless the rules have changed. When Darlington were denied a playoff place about five years ago it wasn’t because the overall capacity as such was insufficient for National League, but because they lacked sufficient covered seats in the segregated part of the ground (which I believe they now have). And Scarborough’s ground is slightly bigger on its rated capacity. Pretty sure neither of them meet football league though. Probably not just for capacity reasons either.
