Stoke v Watford tonight,best result?

Probably a Stoke win, followed by a draw.

We need the teams above us to drop points more than the ones below us, unless we get in a play-off spot.
But whatever the result, we need a win to take advantage.

Whether we finish 7th or 10th is largely an irrelevance, and the only way Stoke overtake us is if we slip up ourselves.

Instinct says a draw so there are two extra points floating around up there not three. I personally think Stoke are going to continue to dog us, as they have for the last few seasons. So draw or Watford win For me.

It's interesting isn't it. I "think" that if our objective is to be in the playoffs then a Watford win is better, with Stoke being one of our current competitors currently outside the top 6 and trying to get in.
If we're going mad and hoping to get automatic promotion :) then a draw is better.

It's one of those fixtures in which we can take a positive out of any result.

Either they both drop points or one of them loses!

My stats say the likeliest outcome is a1 1 draw with goals coming around the half time mark. That result would suite us too

Our target should be to catch Watford and not worry about Stoke.

If we complete the season with an average of 2 points per game, Stoke will not catch us.

So Stoke win then draw as ideal results.

Stoke are a real threat. They have Bet 365 behind them so can outgun us on the financial front.
The only thing stopping them is FFP - which thankfully they seem to be adhering to.
I note they shifted Jack Butland off the wage bill (for a tiny amount £500k/£1m) earlier in the season - this frees up salary capacity.
They have already been active in the transfer market this month and seem to have a decent manager.

Then again take a look at some of the 'names' in that Watford squad - good grief!
I note that Deeney's contract runs out at the end of the season - he's 32. Wonder where he'll end up?

West Bromwich Albion.

A free one for us tonight. A draw would be best but a Stoke win drags Watford back and a Watford win helps us to create a breakaway top seven, especially if Bristol don’t win their next match. (y)

Stoke win best for us.
Stoke will not make top 6, they won't pass us.
Watford on the other hand need to be caught up.

I am not sure why lots of folks seem confident that stoke won't trouble the top 6. I don't think they will either, but not with the confidence some people seem to think.

I'm much more confident that we can catch the team beneath us, who we have a game in hand on, than the team above us that we don't.

Stoke are in bad form right now too, so I sadly expect Watford to win, but as others have said, it would give us the chance to create a gap on 8th and below.
