Stone island attire is chav.

😁 Really good thread this, unexpectedly. Great input from the fashion people, had no idea we had so many on here.

I just don’t like Stone Island, not my fit. But that cultural association of clothes is why some people wear them, it’s an expression and it’s cool.

I wear a fair bit of Fred Perry (for the ska / northern soul thing) and Kappa (for the football, rave and Italian 1990s thing). They’re both football / chav brands as well, part of my identity I like showing off. Other than that, love a bit of high end high street like All Saints, Scotch & Soda, Diesel. Nike and Adidas for a bit of hip hop in the mix.

To be fair the few luxury brand clothes I have are by far the best made items of clothes in my wardrobe.

It is funny when brands attract a crowd they really would prefer not to embrace though.

Polo Ralph Lauren with 80s/90s rappers, Burberry with hooligans and yellow tipped Fred Perry’s with MAGA being fascinating examples of a clothing brand being taken over by a counterculture that they never wanted.

It’s always funny to me when you spend a bit of time in Asian mega cities and all the Chinese billionairesses are wearing so much Burberry that they’d fit in at Upton Park in 2004.

Only ever had one item of stone island, a jacket bought around 2005 ish when Burberry was still the choice of the green street wannabes. Wouldn’t buy it now because of that association, also got kids so wouldn’t pay the prices now even if it wasn’t a West Ham fans wet dream.

I was watching an NBA game the other night and there was a spectator in the court side seats wearing a stone island jacket with what looked like a receipt or washing instructions tag sticking out below the badge. Must have been about half the length of his arm

Social media is so powerful these days that it only takes 1 person/account to end up doing damage to a brand.

Take this account for example https://twitter.com/badge_is_in

This account has over 160K followers and takes the pi$$ out of Stone Island wearers.

It doesn't really take the **** out of SI wearers, more their attempts to get the badge in to every picture, and I'm not sure it's done that much damage to the brand here in the UK to be honest.

That's just 1 of many many accounts that takes the pi$$ out of those that wear Stone Island and gets the badge in.

You see even bigger social media accounts on all platforms such as Lad Bible, FootyAccums, TrollFootball etc all post memes and other stuff regarding those that wear Stone Island.

All these posts don't really give Stone Island a good report.
