StubHub

I know somebody at work who deals a bit in tickets for people for big England matches from time to time and he uses StubHub, I think It’s ok but I suspect it’s a touts outlet.

Exactly that, it's basically a touting site that is regulated. If you ended up with a fake, you would be able to get a refund through stubhub. You pay a massive fee for this service though.

It's better for selling than buying in my experience.

Awful site, very risky business : as most events try to prohibit resale, if you get a dodgy seller/ticket you have very little recourse and may well end up not getting in on the night.
If you are lucky, all will be fine...but...

How much are they going for on StubHub? There are tickets available for the Saturday's play at the Oval or Edgbaston for £135 on Surrey or Warwickshire's official resale site (I can't remember which of the two tests it is but they were there on one of the websites when I looked yesterday!).

I refuse to buy from any touting website other than twickets which is face value. Some musicians have been cracking down on touting and only allowing resale through twickets. No idea what the rules are for the ashes but it's worth checking.
You can also set up an alert. Ashes will probably be difficult as I imagine there is v high demand.

I've used it a few times for baseball, hockey and NFL tickets. These are usually season ticket holders who aren't going to games rather than touts though, so a bit less risky.

Not sure if Vividseats or Seatgeek have tickets but I usually try all 3 for the best price (all will have your eyes out for fees btw).
