Before being given to boris Johnson……so who is doing the legal checks ?

We all know who’s doing the check and changes, the legal lawyers from the government !!!

so it will be sanitised before being released

I can’t believe we live in a country that’s so corrupt yet utterly denies any corruption

It’s no different from Russia

It’s madness when you think about it. The report is about them having illegal gatherings, when gatherings were banned, not proper top secret stuff. We all know that they were at it and these legal checks will be more about editing the report and hiding bits that will make his position untenable (although it already is imo).

I used to follow shenanigans in other countries (Malaysia 1MDB scandal being a highlight) but I have long since come to realise we live in exactly the same environment under these corrupt fascistic Tories.

Reminds me of the movie The Mauritanian based on the book “Guantanamo Diary” by Mohamedou Ould Slahi.

Won't the legal checks be because there is an active police investigation into the same events? It could potentially prejudice that investigation. Isn't it important to prevent that?

Yes, regretfully Johnson will have to redact much of the report to avoid prejudicing the police investigation. The police will review the entire report and conclude no laws broken. We will never see the full report unless a whistle-blower gets hold of it, at risk to their short term health.

I’d like to believe that but this government is full of lies and spin and distraction tactics, like…..look what we done with covid and brexit (both have been a disgrace btw ! ) every MP saying the same thing to distract the lesser thinking people (their thick base)
Basically stating ; don’t worry about all that pi$$ taking…look, we got brexit done (yes and it’s a dog’s dinner at best) and look at the economy….yes, taxes going up and massive energy increases on their way! Yeah, this government are utterly evil and about nothing but power and keeping it to further the rich and give crumbs to the rest of the people but they spin it and people fall for it….

It's always been about drawing out the scandal so that it fades out of significance. It'll still be headline news, but not anywhere near if Johnson had owned up to it all and resigned as would have been the decent thing.

delaying in the hope that Russia invade Ukraine and saturate the media and news

Boris will hope its his version of Thatchers Falklands "strong" leader moment

You’re absolutely right that Johnson prays Russia invades to saturate the news
Totally agree
That’s how evil they are….they’d go as far as to damage the Uk if it would save their skins….

Do you think the police inquiry was to buy Johnson more time and that it could have been implemented by one of his aids?

There will probably be a lot of people named in there. I don't think they should be named publicly, at least not the non senior civil servants who were doing no more than attending. It is easy to say they knew they were breaking the rules, but if my bosses, who set the rules, were doing something, I'd assume the rules were not being broken and it was my understanding of the rules that must be flawed.

There will be some disciplinary actions perhaps, so care for those procedures must be taken I would think.

I do t see why anybody named in Sue Gray’s report shouldn’t be named. They have had weeks to prepare themselves for its publication so a supposed mad scramble to remove names is well frankly ridiculous.

I wouldn’t put it past them, his evil advisers plot and counter plot everything and strategise his best route to wriggle out of being held to account

It seems a standard tactic from this Government to release bad news late on a Friday so that Government ministers have the whole weekend to think about responding. The Gray Report will emerge after 4pm today when everybody has left Parliament no doubt. Obvious delaying tactic and against the promise that it would be released without redaction and delay.
