Sue Gray

I’m pretty annoyed by this own goal of labours, this is giving wriggle room and deflection just as the whole thing is coming to a head - could they not have appointed someone else or waited until the whole thing was wrapped up as it’s giving the tories an agenda / storyline to use to deflect with joe public

That's an interesting take away gravy. I doubt they're are many people who believe what Johnson or boys supporters say.

They are getting their knickers in a right twist.

It’s all sorted Gravy. Apparently Boris Johnson will say. “ He misled himself, for which he is sorry, but he accepts his apology and would like to move on”

I don't see it that way. Partygate is now the story of the day and various RWNJs have emerged from the woodwork spouting deranged conspiracy theories and making hypocrites of themselves (again). Ordinary people are now being reminded yet again of how they were shat upon and mocked by those at the top during covid. Rules only apply to the little people apparently.

There will be a reason Labour has employed Sue Grey now, not 6 weeks ago not in 6 weeks time. There is method behind their madness, just not exactly sure what......🤔🤔
I think it may be as the prisoner said: They've managed to get the Tory hypocrites to basically bring partygate to the front of peoples minds just as the enquiry report comes out. People are now talking about it again

Johnson has just come out and said he feels fully vindicated by the report.

He doesn’t realise how much the public have moved on from politicians talking schoite.

The authors of the report have also said they did not take any account of the SG report.

Can I just say that 'Partygate' and the Standards Committee investigation are two completely separate things. Sue Gray produced her report based on evidence, not conjecture.

The Standards Committee investigation was set up to determine whether Johnson misled Parliament from the dispatch box.

Sue Gray, nor her report, has anything to do with the latter.

It gets all the johnsonites to lie again publically, while belittling all those people impacted by covid lockdown. It gets the sunakites to argue against the johnsonites publically. There will be more blue on blue civil war. That’s why this has happened

In a post on Page 1 I argued this point also. But a few posters since have convinced me to change my mind. Principally, having read through the interim report, it’s essential to keep Partygate out there
The claims about plots are totally ludicrous.

Agreed. It had the usual suspects reincriminating themselves and each other in the morning. They did the media round then the interim report landed at lunchtime, dropping them all back in it.

I believe under oath too, with all the perjury penalties in place. I wonder if he will manage to stop himself lying. One assumes he will be answering questions with a lawyer present, one that we arre paying for I might add.
It's not a court of law though so perjury doesn't carry any criminal sanctions, though even if it was he would not be able so stop lying. He really does not know or care what the truth is, he can only spew what is of benefit to him in the moment.

This is the only way to stop him lying
