Well as promised.. or cajoled back fir a transfer window thread.
Bish bosh bash.. a quick in and out x

No beating around the bush.. no crying over players getting sold. Get the job done and get it done properly. 22 players, two players for each position 11 with 40+ appearances and 11 with 35+ Can be chewed showing my working out or justification.. it is what it is.

1 Sol Brynn
2 Bail Mumba - Plymouth - £2m
3 Neto Borges
4 Darko Gyabi - Leeds - £3m
5 Jimmy Dunne - QPR - Free
6 Mattie Pollock (c) - Watford - £6.5m
7 Tyrhys Dolan - Blackburn - Free
8 Alex Robertson - Cardiff - £3m
9 Tommy Conway
10 Delano Burgzorg
11 Morgan Whittaker
12 Odeluga Offiah - Brighton - Loan
13 Tom Glover
14 Josh Tymon - Swansea - £2.5m
15 Ethan Pye - Stockport - £1m
15 Jay Matete - Sunderland - £500k
16 Jonjoe Kenny - Hertha Berlin - Free
17 Micah Hamilton
18 Aidan Morris
19 Sam Greenwood - Leeds - £1.5m
20 Oliver Casey - Blackpool - £2m
21 Thelo Aasgaard - Wigan - £3m
22 Kaine Kesler-Hayden - Aston Villa - Loan

Considered..
5 Tyler Bindon - Forest - Loan - needed a bit more grit in the side.
6 Callum Doyle - Man City - £10m -
9 Emil Riis - Free - so close.. very tough call.. SG offers more imo
14 Alfie Doughty - Luton - again tough call.. injuries stacking up tho
19 Josh Coburn - probabbly the hardest.. need those appearances up tho.

Transfer fees are always a moving target.. you can look at them all kinds of different ways.. placeholders nothing more. Loans.. with a view to a permeant deal. Plenty of cash in the bank. Loan spaces for emergencies.. probably need a goalkeeper in there with Sol coming back from injury and Tom Glover not featuring heavily. A bit more grit in the side.. the big thing is having two players for every position and having a hope that they can churn out 40 appearances. All bases covered.. a bit light up top maybe. Bedding in, building for the future 3-4-3 pretty defensive, keep it simple.

Controversies?

Micah Hamilton in the squad.. maybe he goes back out on loan. I see him more as a midfielder. Greenwood back as a striker. Think he's has a bit of the Bamford about him.

-----------------Brynn---------------
--------Dunne--Pollock--Borges-------
Kesler-Hayden--Gyabi--Robertson--Mumba
-----Whittaker--Conway--Burgzorg------

-----------------Glover---------------
-----------Offiah--Casey--Pye---------
Kenny--------Morris--Matete------Tymon
--------Dolan--Greenwood--Aasgaard----

Solid goalkeeper in on loan maybe? Emil Riis as an option? Dolan might be a chin stroker.. defo worth a punt tho.

Carrick: let down by recruitment and the fans (unrealistic expectations)
Edwards: nice guy, more agricultural style.. ie more affordable.
Castore: stuck with the shyt badge and churned out an uninspiring design..
1985/86 - Boro Liquidation 40 years
1995/96 - Riverside & Juninho 30 years
2005/06 - UEFA Cup Final 20 years
2015/16 - Promotion 10 years
2025/26 - Dialled it in.

We chose Castore because the shirts fit and I imagine they gave us a good deal with their reputation being in tatters.
Similar story to Rob Edwards. Season of the underdogs eh.

Take Care, Peace Out, Lots of Love x

I thought this was going to be released exclusively at the coffee club before general viewing?

I thought this was going to be released exclusively at the coffee club before general viewing?
Ahhh... i'm getting dragged back in!

Edwards, Beale and Watling eh.. suggests that we're not going to address the major issue in our squad.

Brynn/Glover/Dieng

Ayling*/Howson
RVDB*/Fry
Borges/Edmundson

RW /Dede
Morris/Barlaser*
Hackney/McCabe
Bangura/McCormack

Whittaker/Forss*
Conway/Coburn*
Azaz/Burgzorg/McGree

Doing the best with what we've got? Mend and make do? Five areas we're looing at apparently.

right-back - Dijksteel/Ayling <> Jimmy Dunne seems most likely.. plus we have QPR connections.
unless it's right wing back then maybe we look at Kaine Kasley-Hayden or Daiki Hashioka

centre-back - Clarke/Lenihan <> Amari'i Bell set to leave Luton.. Edwards likes him for that left hand side.
Callum Doyle would be a bold move as would Matty Pollock (Edwards worked with him at Watford)
I still like Ethan Pye (as the OP)

centre midfield - Barlaser/Howson <> I can't see past Darko Gyabi from Leeds tbh who was on loan at Plymouth last season..
Tim Iroegbunam will no doubt be mentioned.. bit of a question mark over his injury record?

wide forward - Doak/Jones <> I hope we're not talking Mido like proportions here. a wide forward? Luton, QPR, Rangers.. Carlton Morris maybe not so sure where we'll go with this tbh.

striker - Latte Lath/Silvera <> Can David Strelec seriously still be on the table? I genuinely like Sam Greenwood as a striker, i'd be more than happy for us to go back in for him.. does he suit the Rob Edwards style tho.. maybe Josh Coburn makes a return? Who fits that Elijah Adebayo sized hole in our Edwards team? Maybe we do go in for a few Luton Town players.

and the what ifs...

Hackney <> I'd be very surprised if we had any chance of signing Tyler Morton.. Alex Robertson for me.
Azaz <> Thelo Aasgaard from Luton.. could be an option (don't know why I put Wigan in the OP)
RVDB <> We would need to go big if we sell RVDB.. Doyle or Pollock style big.. I do like Oliver Casey tbh

Conclusion: have a look at our appearances, have a look at the appearances made by our players before they joined us. We need 22 players capable of churning our 40 games a season.. there's an argument for Carrick running players into the ground ala Bielsa (whose teams always seemed to fade at the end) but also it's an issue with recruitment.. the leagues from which we are looking at and the players injury records and ages. Not fit for purpose imo. Edwards does play a more agricultural style.. my guess is the club think we can look at a cheaper brand of football require less load on players and gamble on our injured players.. utilising squad rotation to get the most out of what we've got. Is Steven Gerrard lined up as a back up to Rob Edwards if the wheels come off? The fans will get the club the fans deserve.

Good to see we're thinking about 2026 already. Assuming we're moving to Edball and three at the back then we're looking at something like 3-5-2, 3-4-1-2, 3-4-2-1 or 3-4-3. Assuming Hackney goes but we hang onto Rav and Azaz then I reckon. Bold for new, italic for injury concern, ? for quality concern,

GK. Brynn, ___, Dieng
Central Defence. Rav, Worrall, Doyle, Fry, Lenihan? Borges, Edmundson? McCormick?,
RWB. Kesler-Hayden, Dede? ___
LWB. Doughty, Bangura ___
Midfield. Morris, Morton, Travis, McCabe? Howson?
Attacking Midfield. McGree, Azaz, Whittaker, Hamilton? Burgzorg? Gilbert?
Strikers/Forwards. Strelec, Conway, Coburn

Focus on importing experience, especially in defence and central midfield but we also need to be more pro-active about using our academy.
Ayling we probably can't move on but can do a job covering at RCB. Howson, I guess, one more waffer-thin season. Borges converted to left centre-back. Gilbert and Hamilton get pre-season to stake a case. Similarly our U21s, notably McCabe, McCormick and Dede. Hope that McGree recovers miraculously.

Who's in
Kesler-Hayden. Estimate £5m. Good experience but plenty of room to make a profit. Alternatives: Mumba £2m, Alfie Gilchrist £5m (not a wing-back though)
Joe Worrall - loan from Burnley. Import some steel, organisation and leadership
Callum Doyle. Left-sided centre back. £8m? Maybe out of our price range but loads of potential for profit. Alternative Ciaron Brown, CB oxford 27. Contract expiring, can also play LB.
Alfie Doughty. £3m? Perfect left wing-back. Alternative, bring back Iling Jr on loan with option to buy.
Tyler Morton. £8m? Young but good experience. Plenty of room for profit. Alternatives - Gyabi, Ireoegbunam
Lewis Travis. £3m? Import some rock-solid experience into the centre of midfield. Might be fairly cheap as Rovers are in perpetual crisis.
David Strelec. £6m? Alternative, maybe a loan of Marc Guiu
Total around £30m

Who's out.
Hackney - £20m
Barlaser, Glover, Silvera, Forss - maybe £2m for the lot. Depending on performances pre-season, Coburn, Hamilton, and Gilbert may be sold or loaned
If someone wants to pay more than £10m for Azaz then he goes with our blessing.

If we lined up at the start of the season as 3-4-1-2 the following looks a pretty tasty team.
Brynn
Rav - Worrall - Doyle
Kesler-Hayden - Morton - Morris - Doughty
Azaz/Whittaker/McGree
Strelec - Conway

The backups 3-4-2-1
???
Lenihan - Fry - Borges
Dede - Travis - McCabe - Bangura
Whittaker - McGree
Coburn
That still looks like a solid mid-table starting 11. A missing keeper and recovery from injury is the big issue there with Lenihan, Fry, Bangura, McGree and Coburn all problematic.

bit of a scattergun approach. for me we need 22 players.. two good players that can play every position, I don't fancy taking too many gambles and want us to see us signing players that can play 40 games in a season. we've seen good quality championship players relegated this season.. we've seen teams go up from the championship with players that may not get their chance in the premier league. league one is stronger than ever imo and there are a few gems to be found there this summer. I do think we need an overhaul.. but with that comes a period of bedding in and it is a rick in itself. I think we're at the end of a three year cycle and as much as we've been promised no more chopping and changing of styles of play.. that is exactly what we've done. there is a case for a more agricultural style and there can be justifications for a lot of the decisions we've made.

Bielsa esque tactics can burn out players and the players needed to execute that style of play are expensive.. long term I think we were onto a winner with Carrick.. it's a shame that our fans didn't have the patience. Kieran Scott has done a good job bringing in money for the club.. but are we taking our eyes of the ball in terms of what is hopefully our main goal.. promotion.

tough decisions need to be made and we have very few players who can see out a full season in the championship.. i'm not sure if Latte Lath was that sort of player and thought we did well to sell him for as much as we did. the timing wasn't ideal and not being able to bring in a replacement was less than ideal.. as with Barlaser and Dijksteel.

Our recruitment has a huge task ahead of themselves this summer.. whether they know the extent of that remains to be seen. Realistically we are tearing it up and starting again. We need to be rock solid and learn from the mistakes we continue to make season on season. Norwich look like they're really going for it next season. I think our expectations need to be lowered for next season.. as I imagine they will be over the next few weeks when players start to come and go. If we leave it right to the end of the window we will once again pay the price in lost points. If we don't get the mix right.. we could end up in a very sticky situation.

Best of luck to Edwards.. lets just hope he hasn't been tasked with treading water as with Carrick.. for me looking from the outside it already looks like Steven Gerrard might already be our plan B

tough job mooners. keep posting your finds, who knows who is watching..

McKenna only 28 , got 3 years left in him easy and better than all 4 we currently have, who need up grading

I preferred the look of your first post.
me too! maybe it needs a bit of work here and there to suit Edwards a little bit more.

based on last season.. there's 59 goals in that team Leeds rocked up with 95. broad brush strokes. I do like Greenwood and think he is capable of much more.. think we'll probably be after more of a unit.. if not two.

the wingbacks are a bit by the book.. good like finding the new firpo or spence.. or jones for that matter!

we need to build a solid foundation instead of papering over the cracks and gambling on players that we've missed out on years before.
Pollock and Natt Phillips were my 1st pairing , but read phillips was on £70k pw so binned him and put Rhys Williams in who has got upside IMO .
Edwards might want Christ Makosso off Luton if he rates him .
The bloke behind me would love him , he's been shouting
' Christ ,again ' all last season !

And Josh Key would be my 1st choice RB although happy if we got KK.Hayden who I plugged a lot last season

Caleb Wiley Loan for LB .

Ethan Pye .....very interesting newy ......very interesting.

Seen quite a bit of him over the past couple of seasons and he's a good player. 21 yr old, good football, physically able to handle himself......under contract for 2 years so won't be sold cheap, especially as Horsfall has just gone to Blackpool.

Money talks, but wouldn't be a easy deal to sort, especially as County don't really "need" the money. Every player has his price though.

Yeah, easier said than done. Just noticed there’s a fair bit of talent in league at the moment. Would rather have a young player who has cut it at that level than a player from a prem team who’s being playing passies for 2 years in the development league. Transfers are naturally lower the lower down you go.. I’d like to think we could be an attractive option. We do need value for money and if the rumours are to be believed we should have enough for a prudent overhaul.

If we’re gonna play the game.. we should play it properly and not loose sight of the end goal. Flipping players and treading water is not sustainable in itself.
