Tav.

I always judge forward thinking players by their numbers, for Tav it would be assists, chances created, shots on target, goals. Sadly throughout his career all his stats have been pretty poor, in his defence he has been shifted around postions alot. Biggest issue I can see is his decision making he often shoots from longer distances or wider angles (and misses the target) when players are in a better position.

Think Wilders comments were largely aimed at Tav. However if his stats were good he'd be playing in the prem, he is playing at the level he currently is, problem is Tav thinks he is better than a mid table champo midfielder, which is most likely the root cause of his poor stats.

Really surprised at some of the b0ll0x posted on this thread.

The lad is in poor form. Happens to everyone.

Also he’s 22 FFS. Plenty of time to develop and improve.

A year of poor form!? 🤔 😂

Wow
Yeah happens all the time.

Keeper has a dodgy season before rediscovering form.

Centre back drops a few clangers before losing his place and coming back better than ever the next season.

20 goal a season striker has a random season whereby he doesn’t get double figures.

And those are players who are likely playing in the same position every week.

Nevermind Tav who has played all over the pitch.

Ultimately some players are suited to certain styles etc.

You state Tav has been out of form for a year. Obviously for that year he’s been playing under Warnock.

Maybe he’s just not suited to Warnocks way of playing. Add that to the fact he is 22 and has been asked to play in multiple different positions at a time on his career where hw would clearly have benefited from playing in the same (or similar) position every week.

At 22 he should be providing incredible performances...

He should be making the difference game after game.

He just isn't as good as you want him to be.

How long before ChrisTheRed suggests that anyone with something remotely positive to say about Tav "just wants to suck him off"?

That's in quotation marks for a reason by the way.

Making the difference game after game?!?

The players who make a difference game after game tend to be the best players in the best teams.

Which is simply because they play against inferior teams and inferior players game after game. Their team is collectively better than the opposition and they are better than their direct opponents.

As opposed to playing in an average team that comes up against both superior (and inferior) teams and players from one week to the next.

Who knows how Tavs career will go but the fact a portion of our fan base doesn’t seem to rate him doesn’t concern me.

Just looking at the current England team, plenty of them had their doubters in their early days and even during recent seasons (Grealish, Henderson, Sterling, Shaw and Pickford for example).

More recently we’ve even had threads questioning the likes of Mount, Rice and Saka’s ability.

I made a silly comment about Tav the other week which was unfair, Was just out of frustration the way things have been going. But the lad has clear potential to be a top player. I want Tav to realise his full potential under Wilder here at Boro.

There's no doubt though there's shyte Wilder needs to let go and will be watching January with interest, more so the Summer window. I hope we start with a goalkeeper. (not that Daniels was to blame for past two results!🤡)

Wish I could see what names in this side will survive and be in Wilder's team come first game of the 2022/23 season .. ... going forward though, I do think Tav is important to us. I thought I was harsh the other week on the lad, but seeing some of the comments about him the past couple of days on here .., I will think again!

I'm told on here he is a £30m+ footballer, so in the Championship I believe I'm right to expect an absolute game changer.

If we had spent £30m on a player and the best you could say was well they run around a lot would you be happy?

I'd happily take another Watmore over Tav. Watmore does far more for us.

I don’t recall many (if any) posters valuing him at £30m+

I've read it on more than a few occasions... Others suggest £20+... Which I'd still expect a lot for.

What would you currently value him at?
Difficult to say. Valuations aren’t really a true reflection of a players ability etc.

It’s not like a house or a car whereby you can say the same vehicle with the same miles or the same house in the same location is selling for £x amount.

The biggest factor to determine his valuation would be how long is left on his contract.

Also:

Whether he’d be moving in Jan or summer.

Whether he’d be going to a prem team or champ team.

Whether he’d be going to an established premier league team (Everton / Leicester / West Ham) or a lower team like Burnley / Norwich / Watford etc.

Whether he’d be going to a team that have just come into money I.e Newcastle or sold a big money player I.e Villa.

And obviously a big factor at our level is the fact that one good season can double a players value.

So what value would you put on him?

Horrible to see ‘fans’ single out and bully an individual player. I have been a critic of Tav in the past and feel he needs a break but the regular Tav threads on here are becoming increasingly nasty and unpleasant and really need to stop.

As I’ve said, it depends who comes in for him (established prem team / lower prem team / champ team) and when (jan or summer) and how long is left on his contract (I have no idea).
So what value would YOU place on him?

It isn't a trick question.
