Ted Lasso

Seems there may be more in the future according to some interviews recently.

Not a done deal but certainly not ruled out either.

And did anyone else notice the book Ted was reading on the plane? ‘How to Change Your Mind’ 😮

Here’s hoping 🤞
I actually hope not. It was the perfect way to end and don't ever want to see it back. The Macadoo penalty showed it's already starting to jump the shark. Other than that it was a brilliant ending to a brilliant series.

Although I imagine @Mayor Goldie Wilson is correct. A Keely/Roy/Jamie spin off looks probable as does a What Nathan does next one.

Also the music director should take a bow: Going seemlessly from the sound of music to the stone roses takes some doing!

Has to be a Roy/Jamie spin off… they are class
Problem is Keeley would be involved. I just wasn't interested in her story line.

A Nathan spin off could be good. Lots to explore with his character.
And he should have got the manager's job

You would hope though that Bill Lawrence learned a harsh lesson when he tried to reinvent/reboot Scrubs for a 9th season without certain key characters. It completely flopped and nearly ruined Scrubs legacy. As with Ted Lasso, what should have been the Scrubs finale is an absolute top tier final episode, as good as you could wish to see, but all kind of became irrelevant when they decided to make another season.

For me, they should end it here and all move on. Go out at the top.

I hope there is no more. This series was pretty rubbish but I thought it ended well.

I think it just got too big. It was about the inner workings of a football club but with Nate at a different club, Keeley at her business, the restaurants etc it was too much and the interactions between all the characters with the clash of personalities disappeared because they weren't interacting with each other.

The Nate story in particular was terribly done. I was ok with the doing well at another club, the not getting on with Rupert but the way he just left and went to the restaurant and then back to kitman is nonsense when you realise we're talking about job paying £Xm to minimum wage. He didn't hate football or being a manager, just Rupert. He could have walked into another job. I'm probably looking at it in the eyes of a regular football fan than the entertainment viewer it is aimed at because I found a lot of things annoyed me this series on the football side of things where they hadn't in the past (signing the Ibrahimovic clone, inventing Total Football, letting Macadoo take the important penalty, celebrating like they'd won the league when their result was irrelevant, West Ham being some sort of footballing superpower etc).

It was all too nice as well. I know the show is about being nice instead of cynical but Ted is supposed to be nice, that's what makes him different. The whole world isn't supposed to be nice. That clash of Ted being overly nice in a bad/cynical world is what made the 1st series good and I assume they are trying to show that they have all learnt from Ted but without the clash it's just a bit twee and all the drama disappears.

Yeah I wouldn't argue with any of this.

I read the review in Rolling Stone magazine this morning that basically argues that far too much important stuff takes place off camera in season 3 for the story to be joined up and resonate on an emotional level.

I think another thing, that you have got across very well, is that they massively got away for seasons 1 & 2 with the actual football side of the show being ridiculously unrealistic, and I think that is because the interactions between the other characters was so good that you kind of forget about the football. When you spread your characters too thinly though and they are here, there and everywhere and not interacting with each other any more, people will start to focus of the football side of things. And that is when the show started to look tired.

I also found it a bit odd as Ted seemed to be in season 3 miles less than he was in season 1 & 2. He was in pretty much every scene until season 3, where he almost became a support character, and I think that massively harmed the quality of season 3
