Tesla drivers…

No doubt. I'd love a blast in that new Cupra for example. Looks lots of fun.
You're genuinely welcome to come and track my car at some point. I'm hoping it might change your mind. You seem a car guy. My BiL thought I was lyign when I gave him the accelration figures. Then I let him drive it on the country roads to his house. He was shocked. I was shocked when I first gave it a blast

The battery life does depreciate though… doesn’t it?

don’t shoot me down though.. I’ve got one, I enjoy it but I do see why others a sceptical about them or even don’t like them…

each to their own, it’s difficult to get everyone to agree a point so sometimes just best agreeing to disagree, even if they’re wrong in their view…
I think the older batteries lose 5-10% in 100k miles, and the newer ones more like 2-5%, but electric motors are a hell of a lot more reliable than an ICE engine, and what comes with it. It's the same with an electric motor in anything, they've been more reliable for decades. Maintenance savings might cover battery replacement, or maybe even repair or adding on additional batteries, but I doubt it will even come to that.

There will be loads of today's EV's still on the road in 20-30 years, with 200-300k miles on the clock, likely just used as local run arounds. The cars will still work very well performance and reliability-wise, just with a shorter range. ICE cars reliability curve will be a lot worse, which is why most get scrapped after 100k miles, the range is irrelevant if any one of the moving parts could write the car off etc.

Sod the train. Definitely not practical or affordable now I've got three kids. Would much rather go to practical or the like and hire a estate and go from there
It's not that bad if you get a family rail card, for some trips in advance anyway, but I totally get what you mean. I've got a veterans railcard which takes about 30% off I think.

Getting them to the station, getting them on the train, keeping them entertainined on the train, stopping for actual edible food and drinkable drink. All too much chew.
Last time we went to visit relatives 30 minutes outside if Edinburgh it cost us £80 in fuel. God knows what it would cost on the train.

Would have been less than £80 in an EV ;)

I would much rather travel by train, but it is expensive. I find it quit difficult to read my kindle whilst driving. There is also the chew getting from the station to where you actually want to be. Boys days out on the train are a blast though.

I don't think the Mustang is particularly attractive. It's nothing like a proper Mustang and the back especially could be any bog standard car. I'd say they've used the Mustang name to break into the EV market because the first wave of EVs are high end but really is all they've done is made an EV Focus. It's not bad but it doesn't deserve the Mustang name.

There are some good looking EVs but the Tesla or the Mustang aren't them

I still can't decide. Do 10-11K a year, 20 miles a day on a straight A road and the rest on 300 mile round day trips with no charger at either end as l own a house with no parking outside. Can charge at work (32A 3 phase) would probably only need to d o it once a week.
For the money for an Skoda/Kia EV GT, I could buy a Superb 280PS and have 10K in my pocket for petrol or even a 3.0 V6 jag 2nd hand and have 20K for maintenance/fuel. A low mileage big polluting cared for relic will command good money post 2030 but I need to drive it in the meantime.

Heart says electric and sell it if it's a real shag charging at work. Head says, buy a noisy fun car, the last hurrah.
Or just drive 200 knackers on their last MOT and rent cars for distance. Generating new cars, however they work is never a green option when you can re-use, right?
