That's why this lock down won't work

I called to a wallpaper shop today, I said to the owner, I'd better get everything I need whilst I'm here before you close. The owner replied why? I said with the lock down. She said no need to worry as they aren't closing as they lost too much money last time. Earlier drove down portrack Lane, went past bus stop, it was chocca with YTS (or whatever they are called now) stood with no masks on just waiting for a bus. Then I've just drove down Eastbourne road, there is easily 30-40 teenagers, just stood in a group outside the shops

I had an email earlier from TJ Hughes saying don’t worry as they are an essential retailer there stores will remain open through lockdown. One what planet are they an essential retailer 🤷‍♂️

I have a feeling the daily cases aren’t going to decline anywhere near what is required, which will drag out Lockdown and heap more pain on the hospitality industry

I heard an employer today at Tecaz on portrack say, they are staying open and the excuse they are using, is they will say they are part of the construction business

TBF a extended full lockdown is probably better for my job. As long as the government pay 80% of my wages I’m probably safer especially when every day we are hopefully closer to a vaccine. Winding down furlough whilst simultaneously imposing quarantines, travel restrictions and not backing airport testing means my employer will lose even more money and I’m more likely to get made redundant. There’s talk of us shutting completely at Xmas and not even doing cargo, stick all that medicine and ppe on the slow boat instead since you let aviation die.

YTS :D

One for the teenagers!

I have three workmen coming in to my house on Monday to fit a new worktop. I can go into a DIY store to buy anything I need to fit my new kitchen. I can go to a supermarket, a chippy, an Indian or even a pub and get a take way. I can go to work. I can have 1-2-1 fitness instruction outdoors, I can meet a friend in a park or other open space, and I have just been informed that thanks to a change of heart by the government I can have horse riding lessons.

What lockdown? It would appear that the only things I can't do is visit my family, actually go into a pub and play golf outside in the open air in a large space.

The virus will always be around, it will take years to totally go away, all closing down this and that is doing is mitigating it's spread and controlling infection to protect the NHS, get used to these lockdowns, they will happen every few months for the next 2-3 years imho

Yes, I’m the same. Can’t play golf but schools and Universities stay open. Will be interesting to see the figures in 4 weeks time.

I think universities staying open is probably ok as it's all done online now and as long as the students don't mingle outside their bubble then they should be fine. Should, being the operative word.

I don't know why schools don't move their learning to online.

Because children don’t deserve to be locked up in their houses for months on end and have their youth ruined?
