The ball boys are now great, but . . . .

We are shocking at taking throw-ins and have been all season - often the ball is just given straight back to the opposition. I don’t particularly blame the taker, it is more other players not moving to make space to receive the ball. Yet when we concede throw-ins we stand back and let them throw to one of their team mates.
We do, however, now have ball boys in front of the perimeter fence instead of behind it, and they are very quick to retrieve the ball. Well done whoever made that change 👍.

Yes we noticed how bad we were at throw ins. At one point Giles was left shaking his head because no one would show for him and ultimately the ball was just given away.

Never understood the ball boy thing. You assume most teams, at home, want to be on the front foot and trying to take the game to the opposition. Why wouldn't you have ball boys trained to help you achieve that by keeping the tempo up. It's very easily done.

It's a small thing, but marginal gains and all that. Given the stakes involved I'm always surprised when professional clubs don't try to maximise every advantage possible, but it seems to happen a lot.

I agree with the throw-ins situation. Not hard to get three players moving off the ball and find some space but yesterday it just didn't happen. Felt very sorry for the taker.

It’s not just this season. It seems to have been happening as long as I’ve been supporting the Boro, which is about 35 years.

At least our throw ins were going forward on Saturday after 15 or so years throwing the ball backwards. Its a start but movement of the players needs to be better.

Yesterday was as bad as I've seen it since Barragan. Maybe we need to follow Liverpool and hire a throw-in coach?
