The detectives : fighting organised crime

The thing is for those guys, there is only two routes out, 6 feet under or years behind bars, none of them escape unscathed.
Absolutely. I work everyday with the police (i'm not a cop) and I see some of the awful stuff that contributers to creating these viscous people. Whether we like it or not the vast vast majority of these people are made and not born that way. You see in that programme that the main protagonist was offending from a very young age and had an incredibly violent step-father who was also the ring leader in the kidnaps.

It's awful watching a child grow into a hardened criminal. I'm just about to start seeing my second cycle of family offending and it can be quite depressing.

That said i'm not for a second suggesting that the public at large should be subject to that behaviour regardless of what made it. There are some incredibly dangerous people out there

It's the old nature or nurture debate.

I actually think both are drivers, in greater or lesser degrees.

In an area that already suffers huge deprivation, after 12 years of austerity, its not a surprise that many local kids turn to crime as an easy path to making money.

I’ll be honest for some reason it made be double check I’d locked my house doors. Stupid I know but what chance would you have if a bunch of four fellas turn up with hammers knives and going’s intent on beating you or your family up. Terrifying

Bizarely I felt a sense of catharsis knowing they were targeting other thugs rather than innocent folk on the streets but I' m not nieve enough to think they don;t have an impact on law abiding folk.

Like I said earlier the main guy was a scary bloke. Very intimidating.

Like I say, I haven’t watched it yet but surely in that game, the higher you climb, the higher you are above the parapet, you can’t stop bullets.

I watched it and thought exactly like the people on the thread. Complete scumbags all of them. What also struck me was how bloody stupid they were. The carried out shockingly violent acts but left evidence everywhere. The Police must have thought they were idiots.

It's not just about the recent 12 years, many areas were dropped into austerity in the early 80s and haven't recovered.

It was predicted at the time the devastating results we'd see and unfortunately they've come to fruition.

Yes, they were not the blessed with high intelligence, but you would not ever want to cross their paths. Capable of commiting extreme violence with seemingly little conscience or remorse.
This is why no one should be hero worshipping the likes of Duffy.
The lad with the longest sentence is a case in point. The way he acted after arrest it didn't seem to be an issue for him. I think the police had identified him as the one pistol whipping the bloke. Subjecting a person to that was normal for him.

The Kinahan Cartel v Hutch gang war in Dublin has claimed about 20 lives so far. The vast majority of deaths being on the Hutch side as it is a gang v a cartel. At the start they made a pact that no innocent men, women, or children would be targeted. It is one thing to make those kind of plans but another to keep them. One notoriously inept hit man on the Kinahan side killed two innocent people by mistake. One was mistaken identity, the other caught in the crossfire. He ended up shooting himself in the face looking down the barrel of his gun in his car on the way to another hit. You couldnt make it up.

Play with fire, you get burnt.

But it was a great insight. It has a huge ranging affect on both the families and friends of those directly involved.

And to whoever said it's an argument for legalising drugs 🤔 cannabis maybe. But the use heroin, cocaine and even abuse of prescription medication (class C) causes misery to millions in the UK. Legalising it really would cause catastrophe across numerous estates in Teesside alone.

Is Kinahan the fella who is involved in Boxing - doesn’t he have links to Billy Joe Saunders and Tyson Fury. I think he was in the news recently?

Last night's episode was another that proved just how little some value life. Cold-blooded execution in broad daylight with kids playing nearby, they are vile cowardly scum.

Sadly, there is a proven correlation between poverty and crime and so when there are thousands less police officers, soft justice and vastly increased levels of deprivation for millions its no surprise that this type of thing is spreading quickly.

Until there are more opportunities for all, a true levelling up of society and a hardening of justice in this country this will continue to get worse.

Yes. His father Christy Kinahan was an international drugs gang leader who went from Dublin to Spain. Now he and his two sons Daniel and Christopher are holed up in Dubai with about 12 other gang members. The Kinahan Cartel are international drug smugglers/dealers. It is said that he handed the control of the cartel to Daniel. The police say Daniel is trying to reinvent himself as a boxing advisor to Tyson Fury amongst others. He has not been charged with any offences, has no criminal record, but the Gardai (Police) in Ireland want to question him in relation to murders committed in Dublin by the so called Cartel. There's a number of books out on the Kinahan Cartel and quite a few documentaries on youtube. They operate a massive drugs and gun smuggling operation on a worldwide scale, and have made millions of pounds, hence now living in Dubai.
