The end?

You've probably seen Lt Col Slavinska (or Tank Girl), a Ukrainian Mechanised Battalion Commander, mentioned in this thread a few times. Well here she is about to be lifted onto the shoulders of a crowd of Kherson residents. She trained under my source and has been in the army since 2014, when her home town of Donetsk was occupied. She was a hairdresser. Her husband was killed .... so belting the daylights out of Russians was a pretty personal mission for her. She has been injured 5 times over the years, losing various body parts along the way, so she really deserves this hero's welcome.

Britain or England?

Plenty of Scots and Welsh got fully behind the Empire, some Irish too, something like the British Empire can’t exist and expand without the acquiescence and even support of at least some of those subjugated.

Of course, as well as around the Empire, the various populations of these isles suffered under those imperialists too, some more than others and we are still dealing with the consequences today.

The Scottish at one point tried and failed to establish their own colony in Panama - the Darien Scheme - which partially led to the Act of the Union and everything that followed…

The result of the 20 hour bombardment has raised concerns among the Ukrainian battle field commanders.
Several have complained that it was to much, and that it should not be done again.
And that there are too many dead Russians to process, and also that it was inhumane.
When even Sl****ska is green in the face and start to say that "they did not deserve this..." about Russian Mobiks. Then it is bad.

Don't think I would agree with this, fair enough if they were surrendering, or trying to get out of the country, but they weren't they were just trying to get from one part of occupied Ukraine to another.

Of course, the loss of life is not good, it never is, but the hell unleashed there might actually improve the chances of a full withdrawal, which would ultimately lead to less "lost lives" from both sides in the future, and Russia would be firmly back in their box.

You can bet your hat that if it was the Ukrainians running, then Russia would be doing the same, and that's in Ukraine. If this was Ukrainians running away, in Russia then it would have been 100x worse.

Yes, some of the Russians won't want to be there, probably the vast majority, but they are there. The Ukrainians don't want to be fighting either, but they've been put in this position by Russia, and they are the weaker nation which has the right to defend itself from the occupiers by any means they see fit, providing it's not war crimes etc.

I think the rules of engagement that we use say you can't shoot at someone running away, but that only applies outside of war, and these rules get changed for times of war/ invasions etc.

Who pays to rebuild Ukraine then???

There’s a fair bit in frozen Russian assets that will probably be utilised, but this will need to be done carefully and transparently. The US and the EU will be involved, it mostly won’t be charity though, especially if Ukraine has desires to join the EU.

Agreed. Don't want anyone killed but the quicker the dictator's army are out of ALL of Ukraine the quicker lives stop being lost. Surrendering is not the same as regrouping

Ok, I will elaborate where I can, but things have moved on and my source is now unable to say as much for reasons I shall explain later but, a hint is that he is on his way to Indonesia.
In short, Surovikin has contacted Ukraine direct and asked for a 24 hour cease fire while his army withdraws. Where they are withdrawing to, not yet known, but it seems that they are looking to get out of S.E. Kherson, S. Donbass....basically to Crimea. It appears that Ukraine have granted this as, currently there is no artillery fire from either side.
It has taken two months but we are nearing The End. My source is now directly involved with negotiations to end the war, so can't say as much as before.
He says that there will be all kinds of rumours and threats over the coming weeks ...missiles, nukes etc, but to disregard them as diplomacy is now fully at work.
Off to run up a big hill now but will add more later, directly from him.
The End is hopefully within sight.

I do hope so. I just want this to be over and the killing to stop.

Good. But Ukraine shouldn't take their word. If they want to get out in 24 hours that is great - let them. Gives Ukraine chance to prepare to liberate Crimea in the near future too

Let’s hope for an end where the two countries politicians can live side by side as peaceful and harmonious neighbours for the good of the citizens.
That is all well and good, but the war crimes commited by Russian " citizens" against the Ukrainian population will not be easily forgotton. In towns and villages, its not just the politicians . It will take decades to forgive .
