The Football Tourist Guide to Middlesbrough

I watched it earlier this week and it certainly presents the area in a really positive light.

I thought the seal footage was excellent, and even though I've lived on Teesside all my life I've never been down to see them myself, might have to change that asap!

Just the odd Walrus in the Madison on a Saturday night out.....
The Environment Agency carried out major flood relief work 5 or so years ago and joined with Hartlepool and Stockton Councils in putting in a new car park on Seal Sands Road and a walk way alongside the newly scraped wetlands for 100 yards to a new look out to the seals on Greatham Creek. Many seals actually come alongside the walkway as well. There are information panels along the walkway explaining about the seals and their decline in numbers due to the industrial revolution and about how they returned again.
There are two hides (one next to the car park) both maintained as part of RSPB Saltholme - across Seal Sands Road the ponds can be a good place to spot the RSPB emblem bird the avocet.
This landscape is also dotted with concrete WWII and WW1 defences.
