The Gallows Pole

Tv show is outstanding, ( after the first ten mins of working out wether it's old English, or just broad accents )
I'd be fairly certain the actors were allowed fairly free reign to go freestyle, as you can see them trying to suppress laughter
That bit on the stairs had us both hysterical

Ben is from Durham but now lives in Calderdale (near me). Wrote for Melody Maker. Lovely fella. Really good friend. His wife, Adelle Stripe wrote a book called "Black Teeth and a Brilliant Smile". Great book about Andrea Dunbar, who wrote Rita Sue and Bob Too.
Perfect Golden Circle was written and released before Cuddy. He has been ridiculously prolific this last ten years. Recommend most of his books .... Beastings is grim but gripping. I don't recommend "Turning Blue" unless you want to be physically sick.

By far and away my best recommendation is "The Offing", which is set around Robin Hoods Bay. It's fantastic. Soon to be a film (probably) starring and produced by Helena Bonham Carter.

Agreed. The Offing is just lovely. Those untrustworthy telly types better not b***r it up! ;)

Just watched Shane Meadows new series on the Iplayer based upon a true story about a money a clipper gang from the 18th century really enjoyed it great sound track too

https://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-...-absolute-must-see?CMP=Share_AndroidApp_Other first episode is a bit slow but worth sticking with
I watched the first episode and tried to give it a go but it just felt like I was watching a local amdram group having a session in a pub…

im aware it’s a shane medows creation and this is how he does it, with workshop rehearsals as opposed to strict scripting…

I may try it again, on your recommendation..
