The Last of Us TV Show

It's similar in terms of its set after something has ravaged the planet but it's different to zombies, it's a fungal infection which changes people.

The infected aren't the slow shuffling "never really in danger unless you get backed into a corner" type and it's a much smaller "main cast" bass rather than the big survivor group that walking dead always focuses on.

Last of us I presume will be bigger budget than AMC gave walking dead. Initially walking dead was high budget in the first season, they were then told they had to reduce the amount of zombies and that's why seasons always had a very slow start and middle and then everything would hit the fan end of season.

A quick google says walking dead was $3.5m per episode season 1 which amc then reduced to $2.75m per episode for season 2. Reports suggest last of us budget is $10-15m per episode which means season one cost more than each of the first 5 seasons of game of thrones.

If anyone likes Chernobyl, it's the same writer that did that who has worked with Druckmann, who led the development of the games.

Thank you. I'll give it a blast, Chernobyl was superb.

Both games truly outstanding, for a real experience which makes the game better try playing it on grounded.
Currently replaying the first game before watching. Agree a total classic.

Still torn over the second one though. Have played it right through and it was every bit as well done as the first, but it just bothered me how relentlessly bleak and nihilistic it was. Felt like it went way beyond the first game into sadistic for the sake of it territory. Like I say, can't fault it on atmosphere or playability, but impossible to "love" for me. Doubt I'll play that through again.

Was really nervous about this because it's my favourite game of all time and I hate it when they ruin things but seems like it's got off to a great start.

Can't decide whether to watch weekly or binge at the end.

There are some interesting clues in the episode as to how the infection started and why certain characters didn't get it. Pretty well done when you look back on it

I think the fact Neil druckmann is doing it will keep it in line with the game.
Yeah he has talked about the difference in negotiating the last of us IP with the uncharted IP in that with last of us the contract even included specific plot elements to protect it

Just read an article with a few of the actors involved, who have said they want to make the characters their own, and not be stuck with playing a 'character from a video game'

I've never played or seen the game, but i really enjoyed walking dead (or the first few series anyway) so im looking forward to this. I'm convinced this is something that will happen, maybe thousands of years from now when bacteria is released from ice or when pharma companies go mental, but im convinced there'll be some mass extinction event, not zombies, just worldwide deaths in the billions, total chaos and wilderness will remain.

Watched the 1st episode just now, certainly a very good start, I'm relieved more than anything. There's only really Sonic and Detective Pikachu that had good adaptations based on video games.

Still not 100% sold on the actress playing Ellie, but that's more of an appearance thing than anything else, I know she can act and I'm sure she'll be great.

Obviously Pedro Pascal looks just like Joel, so there's not much issue there.

Watched the first episode last night. I'm really liking the extra detail they're putting into this that was missing from the game, and it feels seamless.

Is the second episode already out as a bonus, and the third will be out on Monday?

Watched it last night, really good. I was watching it thinking, i wonder if this is part of the game, is this the opening, i bet this is like a video cut scene etc. The mrs enjoyed it too and she isnt one for stuff like this. She was googling it all the way through, how much $ each episode cost and stuff saying its going to be huge this show.

The first episode was fairly faithful to the show, I'd expect there to be differences as we go on, for example in the game air-born spores form part of the gameplay but that wouldn't be realistic for tv - even in the game im like why don't all the spores land on their masks and infect them when they take them of etc

The core plot will remain and I bet they ram it full of Easter eggs for players of the games
