The Office

Another reboot in the works, this time in Australia with a female lead.

I cannot see a female David Brent/Michael Scott working myself - women don't really tend to act like either of them

**** women managers tend to be nothing like David Brent . **** women managers tend to bitch about each other non stop and publicly undermine people who work for them or their fellow managers.

I should know, I worked for one . Thankfully not the case now

Nothing will beat the UK office.

I actually quite like the US version, after the first series when it tried to reenact the UK episodes, but just failed (in my eyes).

I don't see the original and the US version as linked really. The US version went so far away from what the UK version was that it become its own show entirely.
Agree, but for the first series they tried to use the same episode storylines (or similar scenes etc) which were painful at times.

But, as soon as it started doing its own thing, I didnt see it as the office re-boot, but as you say its own show

Are you being Finchy or Packer?

I love both the UK and US versions and see them as completely separate entities. Like has been said, the 1st episode especially is just a repeat of the UK version and didn't work at all. Some of the 1st series was still great, Diversity Day and Basketball were good episodes.

I think any re-boot is unnecessary but there's no reason why another version won't work. The office isn't the only show of its kind that is based on an office setting.

I love both versions but vastly prefer the American one purely because there is so much more character development due to the 200+ episodes

Parks and Rec also great

Just to clarify, is this based on an extensive sample of female managers totalling the grand sum of “one”.

I don't think women act like David Brent, but there are still female bosses from hell equally ripe for lampooning.

Is it a reboot or a remake? They’re not quite the same thing I don’t think.

I do find it odd that Oz are making their own as they totally get our sense of humour without modification and as far as I know the original is already very popular there.

I can understand why the US adapted it and made 250 episodes or whatever as they simply don’t do short comedy series in that market.
