The official boro tweet wording

I genuinely did think there may have been a breakdown in the relationship when they didn't wish him happy birthday, tbf.
I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Gibson was holding out in the hope that Wilder was going to take the Bournemouth job, especially when he was made favourite for the job. That way we'd have gotten compensation.

Maybe the decision not to wish him happy birthday was another tactic to wind him up.

Free to go where he wants now. Or did Gibbojust rush the sacking through to beat the resignation as a face saver.

Maybe the decision not to start our two best performers during our record worst start was a tactic to get paid off?

Can he just be sacked for poor results, wouldn't that have to be gross misconduct or something? He'd get his contract paid up and be called mutual agreement if it is just about results?

Yes, first thing I thought when I read it - very cold and blunt which says a lot.

Clearly something has gone on which has destroyed the relationships within the club.

Even when results have been poor there are usually some words of thanks and best wishes for the future.

See the words used by Wolves when sacking Bruno Lage.
"The club would like to place on record its thanks to Chris and his staff for all their hard work over the past 11 months."

His contract being terminated means we have paid up whatever clauses there were in there, such as notice. If there werent any such clauses then we pay up the remainder of his contract, however many years that is.

A certain length of his contract will be paid up, depends on the terms of his specific contract, but I would have thought he will get at least 6 months paid up.

Terminated means he's been sacked i.e. he no longer has a contract with MFC.

It will be interesting to see what Wilder does next, but the last 11 months definitely won't look good on his CV.
Agreed, but you don't become a poor manager over night. Whilst it seems like he couldn't operate at our club I'd still back to do very well elsewhere in future.
