The propensity for rioting in this country

Is pretty low isn’t it?

Think about it: all the billions spent on a failed track and trace system
Muddle, too slow and ineffective lockdowns killing us.
Brexit making us poorer and a laughing stock
The entire school meals fiasco, from the initial refusals to the private contractors stealing all the money.
Lies, corruption and incompetence on a world beating scale. Imagine if the french government had been like this? The cabinet would be hanging from lampposts in the champs elyse by now.

Is this an over reaction or is the cabinet as bad as it seems?

please refrain from personal comments about the last election

The government played a blinder by splitting the working class into remain v leave and so anyone disagreeing with this govt is seen to be a moaning remainer (despite it being nothing to do with Brexit).

I've seen a ridiculous amount of people defending the govt on every **** up they make. It's worrying.

Indeed. Those that would be more likely to “riot” I.e have explosion of frustration and anger is tempered by the stark fact that many voted for Brexit and this Government.

Also those people defending some to give Johnson a high approval rating. I honestly don't understand

Well, that’s certainly an option, yes. Erm, but here’s my proposal: Let’s get tough. The time for talking is over. Call it extreme if you like, but I propose we hit them hard and hit them fast with a major and I mean major leaflet campaign, and while the tories are reeling from that, we’d follow up with a {whist} drive, a car boot sale, some street theatre and possibly even some benefit concerts. OK?
Now, if that’s not enough, I’m sorry, it’s time for the T-shirts:
“Johnson Out” … “Tory Life Forms, No Thanks” … and if that’s not enough, well, I don’t know what will be

That's lovely. Thank you very much. Erm, moving on a step and I hope no-one thinks that I'm setting myself up as a self-elected chairperson ... just see me as a facilitator.

Rioting isn't in our blood. I'm pretty much persuaded that Special Branch have played a major role in most riots in this country's living memory. The populace, left to their own devices - and under the guidance of the press - just grumble and blame whichever scapegoat they're told to for all the nation's ills.

Politics is changing. It’s not about the established Left and Right anymore. The Right have managed to make the Left look like the establishment, and the working classes are extremely confused. Far too confused to riot.
I think the Tories hold on power is very fragile and they know it. The Brexit election gave them their first decent majority in 30 odd years and it was very much a single issue election.

The Tory natural allegiance to the rich at the expense of the poor will over time be their undoing as it always is.

This is true. Maybe we SHOULD be more french?

HarryVegas was spot on when he said rioting isn't in our blood - you already know the answer you'll get to your comment " maybe we should be more French"
I mean in the public protest front. I just feel we are in a mess here and so many people are just letting it happen. I think someone else was spot on, it’s the Brexit crowd that are more likely to riot and they seem happy with the failures, lies and corruption

I think something truly earth shattering would have to happen to get people on the streets.

it was hard enough getting up at 5.30 to go downstairs with a 1 year old who decided it was time to get up!

Truly shattering things are happening in this country. They are being ignored though. I do think we need to start educating people on politics in this country.

Because the people who are likely to riot are probably still going about their lives as normal whilst the government try to portray the image they are still in control and the police walk a tight rope between enforcing and antagonising. That’s why there won’t be a tough crack down because if 68 million people decide they’ve had enough and push back there’s nothing the government or police can do. Listen to the language the government are using, it’s all about how the majority are complying etc, they are trying to shame people into compliance rather than beating them with a big stick and risk people getting their own big sticks. The police were told early on that they can’t be too tough on people otherwise there will be civil unrest, there’s millions of angry and frustrated people and it only takes a spark.
