* The Unofficial "Official" Luton v Boro Championship Match-day Thread an Programme *

Good read. The stereotypes were certainly pervasive in the 70s and 80s, the likes of Cunningham, Regis, Hill and Stein winning far fewer caps than similar white players and it is sad that these are perpetuated into coaching today.....Sol Campbell has struggled for opportunities despite a glittering career and Paul Ince seems to be discarded when the likes of Pardew, Monk etc... always seemed to get further opportunities.
Agree particularly with the point about Sol Campbell.
Its an appaulling shame - hardly ever gets so much as a "no thanks" despite all his formidable experience in the Premier League and as a senior England player. He deserves a propper chance - not just stringing along wiith sinking clubs like Macclesfield.

The black and white photo above him holding a trophy.......is that supposed to be the youth team?

Warns looks dapper in his shirt and summer jacket
That triangular - trophy is the time he won the Alliance Premier League Championship with Scarbro` - taking them into the Football League in 1987. After that, he left to join Notts County - and got them into the Top flight(y)

Bookies Corner.
If someone is giving you ear ache, its worth buying "Made in Sheffield - Neil Warnock. My Story". Its well worth a read - I bought a hardback - used - on Amazon for 1p - you can buy new copies. Its full of funny anecdotes about a not particulalry happy childhood and about football. That Yorkshire "grit" comes through and you can follow that thread till this very day.

We could have surmised that he “wouldn’t **** on [Gary Megson] if he was on fire”, but the origins of these resentments are often left frustratingly unclear. Stan Ternent? “I had taken an instant dislike to him when he was the manager of Hull City.” [https://www.wsc.co.uk/reviews/61-Managers/343-made-in-sheffield]

"The Gaffer: Trials and Tribulations of a Football Manager" [2014].
At this time, Neil had just taken up the reigns with Rotherham and had only achieved 7 promotions (!!) at the time.(y)

Its more pragmatic - an explanation of how a Manager gets the best out of his players. It shows how the pieces fall into place and picture a more complex and deep thinking Neil Warnock. Something those in authority dont always recognise. Especially Chairmen, Owners and refs......
I know it took me only two nights to get through it - and couldnt stop laughing:love:(y)⚽

Well my last game prediction did not come anywhere near ( said we`d win 3-1 ) so tonight I`m keeping my lips sealed

Tough game tonight and if we are to take anything from Luton we`ll need to be at our best, if i`m honest I fear the worst but I hope Nobby will be on at the end of the game telling me I have no faith.....I`ll take that.

Matt Crooks - hes a winner and he wears the Red shirt!

".............Crooks is very much a utility man. He's played up-front for Boro this season, he's played as the No.10. Last week, when news of the extent of Boro's defensive injury crisis emerged, there was even talk of him playing at the back. But it was in the middle of the park, against the Tykes, where Crooks delivered his best performance of the season so far and perhaps provided Warnock with some food for thought moving forward.............." [Dominic Shaw - Gazette].

Arguably the two best players in a Boro shirt so far this season? (y)

Its a tough place, Kenilworth Road, but after Saturdays disappointment - nothing says we cant go again and take up where we left off......

Very harsh on Lumley considering how long we persisted with Bettinelli with him making far more errors.

Glad Dijksteel is backed, hopefully that's not rushed.
