The Worst Band in the World

This is the only band I've ever walked out on. Coatham Bowl, 1979. Ex-Stooges guitarist and a shrieking vocalist.

Haha! I remember being about 16 when I came across these in Art College and thought they (and I for listening to them) were pretty cool. It only took a couple of years to realise how cringey they were especially on the NME cover they did.

They were just called brother I think until another band made them change name, then the lead singer tried to go solo I think. Those were the days.
This interview hasn't aged well.

NME desperately trying to find another Libs, writing any old crap about any old crap… look at that title we’re the only ones with any b***ks… to be fair it does take big b***ks to go on TV and say your the best band in the world and then have to play songs from that dog **** excuse of an album.
Wow. Those lyrics. They're awful.

Interesting review here too.

"Brother, signed for a rumoured quarter of a million, given to telling interviewers they were the saviours of rock'n'roll and authors of "the best songs of the last 20 years... But listening to them again on Famous First Words, it's clear they bear no more resemblance to the best songs of the last 20 years than to the national anthem of Uganda."

The only band I've walked out on was Ladytron. Dreadful.
The worst band in my musical world must be Venom though. Very Dreadful.
I must confess a love of Venom. "Aaaargh" always leaves me with a big smile on my face. And that live video where they edit out Mantas obviously falling over is hysterical.

Music is brilliant for being so subjective - divisive, even. We can't all like the same thing thankfully :)

Had the displeasure of playing a gig with these knobheads. They split on April fools day. I can’t tell if they were expecting people to be like ‘oh nooooooo don’t’ and say APRIL FOOLS. But nobody did.

Sigue Sigue Sputnik, most of, if not all boy bands for being contrived sheet and the Sex Pistols for pretending to be something they weren't, and lots of others who I wish would take their ' bad boy attitude' and do one. Horrible music which when you listen to the lyrics all it is, is sellng you a load of old b***ks.
