There’s something special happening here

The thing I like about Wilder is that he'll live and die by his methods in much the same way as Aitor.
Two diametrically opposite approaches to the game, but both based on an absolute belief.
I honestly think if we can get promoted and survive that important first season to guarantee funds for recruitment then he could build a fantastic side.

That's where my excitement has taken me too dood. I made exactly the same point about Karanka too to my father-in-law. Towards the end of the game he was asking for a more direct approach rather than trying to play it out. I said that Wilder will never change how he wants to play and so he better get used to it! Big ifs but if we can get promoted and then stick for a season then who knows what he might be able to do.

Yes, there are clear similarities with the Karanka era, not least in that both he and Wilder have a clear plan about how they want to play. Until the Charlton away debacle I had high hopes for the future under Karanka, but that showed he was fragile, and now he's nowhere in terms of management success. Wilder is made of sterner stuff, I suspect, and his plan is refreshingly attack minded. It's great to, at last, have a manager who understands tactics and a recruitment department who live in the twenty first century. The Kieran Scott appointment is also part of the reason I'm so excited about the future. Can't wait for every game to come along at the moment and I think we can all dream about the Premier League realistically again.

I completely agree about the mood and potential and similarities to Karanka era.
Manager, Players and Fans all on the same wavelength, backed by Owner and Exec and with cracking technical support.
Away crowds climb, then home crowds and it becomes irresistible.

We will go up this season, or next. When we do I hope Steve Gibson invests to stay up from the off. It is a lot harder to start all over again later.
We will never compete for the very top end of the PL and can't afford to spend that way, but I haven't been more optimistic about things, even under Aitor.

I got real butterflies yesterday. Really excited by the teams fighting spirit and the new additions. Think if we beat blackburn , we would only be 4 points behind them. 2nd is not out of reach

I really loved seeing Balogun heading to the tunnel at full time, but Tav gesturing for him to come back and see the fans.

Nice to see the squad together and given the often toxic atmosphere at Arsenal it'll make a pleasant change for the new guy too.

Didn't help himself by going to two clubs who are a difficult manage to say the least. He must have been very confident or very desperate knowing the trigger was always close to being pulled.

let’s see how the signings he’s made this transfer window do first.

recruitment hasn’t always been Wilder’s strong suit

You know how well we are doing as a club, two weeks into the transfer window Bausor hasn't been unmercifully slated on here. Unheard of.👍

Agree, for me it's more than Karanka levels - he was unknown & untested though his team dominated matches it was rarely attractive to watch.

Wilder has me feeling a little more 96/97 Robbo'esque with anticipation & esp the style of attacking play... much different to AK...

In terms of signing a player, my role really comes in right at the end, and that’s the deal. Of course, I need to see the players and agree they’re right for the club and that the manager is on board, but the shortlisting and scouting, and the early part of the work, is done by the recruitment team underneath.

You know best 👍🏻

On this, I definitely do.

Your point is?
