About 30 yrs ago I pulled in to the Palladium shops to get a paper. AS I neared the newsagents John was coming out. He was my absolute sporting hero as a kid and teenager.
When I got back in the car my Mrs asked me who that man was that I was staring at. I told her and she said I wish you looked at me the way you looked at him :D

First time I met Big John was at a signing at the Longlands before a game a few years ago. He looked a giant of a man , dwarfing all around him but he was only 6ft tall but looked broad ... awe struck at the time , signed a few pics I brought and was very huble - Top top man

As was once mentioned in an early edition of FMTTM, if a film were made of Hickton’s life, only John Wayne could play him!
