I said the exact opposite to that.

It's also clear from the context in the OP that it's not a mistake or something forgotten.
I was talking more generally.

Anyway, AET hasn't liked me since I disagreed with something he said about Morrissey. I do wish him well, but a break from here from time to time can be a very positive action.

Well in that case I've already agreed that not knowing/remembering is a different thing in my view and said I wouldn't pull anyone up for that.

Appreciate you're wanting to have a general discussion, but the OP referencing the disagreement I had with Aet and saying "the minority spoil it (on here)" makes me more inclined to discuss specifics. (y)

Ok fair enough. Your debate with AET was simply a disagreement though, he blacklists/blocks those who annoy him and tbh I think that’s fair game. You didn’t do anything objectively wrong though.

Grown men…🤦🏼‍♂️

I say that because there’s very few women on here or other genders that cause this much debate about the square root of feck all..

Well thats your opinion.

There was a trans boro fan on this message board just last week who ended up deciding they weren't welcome here. The threads been deleted now but it was full of horrid comments alleging that they were a danger to women or mentally unwell.

And a trans teenager was murdered in the UK at the weekend, with the killers seemingly motivated by their gender status.

There's been a very obvious deliberate moral panic ushered in to the US and UK by right wing politicians and media. We didn't have this much outrage 10/20 years ago when there was trans women on coronation street and big brother.

So in my opinion it does matter. There's something wider going on in our society at the minute and I don't like it.

Take care of yourself AET. A break sounds like a good alternative to me. Keep well.

Forums can be great at times and pretty hostile at others. I don't know what led to this. It's an internet forum at the end of the day. It's not that important.

I dont know which thread you are referring too, so cant comment on that.

However, I do have an interest as my son is trans.

I have found, the level of support and understanding from this board to be overwhelmingly positive.

There are issues, such as participation in sport that are very emotive. I dont have the answers and am happy to listen to the view points expressed.

Pro nouns are not really a trans issue, however they do affect a lot of trans people. You can elect to be called whatever you want, without being trans gender. A lot of trans people that I know of, just want to be accepted in their chosen gender without drawing attention to them selves.

A heartfelt thank you from me and my family for the support that everyone on this board has expressed to me.

It's inevitable that some changes in society, will seem incomprehensible to us as we get older.
the youth always have and should find their own identity. In a way, without being ignorant, we're not the target audience for much of it.
I have a trans Nephew (now). A much happier boy.

the point I was making is that this post and many others aren’t actually debates of any intelligence…

they're just bickering squabbles of grown men insisting they’re more right than the other…

but, like you said, that’s my opinion 😏

Are you new to the board? It’s hardly like the latest row about whether Isiaih Jones has lost his mojo or has a bad attitude belongs in the Oxford Union is it? 🤣

When people are genuinely happier after the transition that’s surely the most important thing.

It will never be a simple discussion I don’t think though. I do think some members of the trans community (and their opposition too) want to simplify it by making it simply a case of self-identity, or about what you were when you were born, but I don’t think it’ll ever reach that stage where everyone agrees.

I blame the Kinks. The way they ridiculed Lola wasn’t helpful.

The police have said there is no evidence to support a hate crime in this murder. Statistically trans people are less likely than non-trans to be attacked or murdered than non-trans.
I initially contributed to that thread, but once I had made my points I left, as I shall do here.
Trans people have an absolute right to use whatever pronoun they choose, dress how they choose, change their name to a different gender.
They do not have the right to access safe spaces for women. It is not a moral panic. It is women realising that there is a genuine threat from the exploitation of gender dysphoria.
Sadly, only the right wing press and a small (but increasing) number of women’s groups seem to be paying attention.

Debate is healthy but let’s try to avoid any “culture wars” on FMTTM. Leave that to poisonous little trolls like Sunak and his gang. It’s all they have got left.

It is a moral panic. Said it on here before and got shot down. I know a lot of women. Most of my best friends are women. None of them give a crap about trans people 'invading' their 'safe spaces'. The only people who seem to care about that are a talentless writer and a bloke who sleeps in a race car bed and their idiot followers on tw@tter.
