Todays ref…

Absolute garbage.

He set the standard when booking Hackney for a 50/50 early doors, when he won the ball.

Blackpool were dirty and cynical, especially 1st half. He seemed to take pity on them and not book them for clearly worse offences than Hackneys.

Thankfully it didn’t matter but another crap Ref all the same!

I actually think Hackney was a little lucky not to be sent off for 2 Yellows.

He was late and went straight through the lad after about 40 minutes and I don't thinknhe would have had a lot of complaints.

Overall I think the ref had quite a good game

Works both ways. Should have booked Lenihan for a shirt pull when they broke from our corner.

By the way. Lenihan what a great performance

I was surprised Blackpool didn't make more of the 2nd challenge.

He dived in for his booking and the ref could have had a word but a yellow wasn't an awful decision.

Agreed on the second Hackney challenge. Feared the worst when that happened.

On looking back at the replays too. Chuba had a stone wall penalty turned down after the first goal. How that wasn’t given I’ll never know. Just bundled into the back of him.

A couple of very late Blackpool challenges went unpunished too.

He was totally inconsistent. Bottled giving Hackney a deserved second yellow because he'd already given him an undeserved first yellow. Also didn't give Patino a yellow for the same challenge he'd just booked Hackney for. Wasn't interested in giving us a penalty either, but then again, find me a ref that is.

I feared Hackney was going to get sent off just because of the bonkers ref!

linesman nearest to us was shocking.. realky didn’t know what he was doing at all!

ball went out of play and he put his flag straight up!!! Waited for the nearest player reactions.. which were wrong.he should have been taken off!

'Should have booked Lenihan for a shirt pull when they broke from our corner.' think he got away with it because the defender was pulling his shirt first
but that the ref was v poor , too whistle happy / inconsistent and didnt help with the flow of the game .. not often you hear that after winning 3-0 : -)

The Blackpool board general opinion was that he was terrible too, but on the basis that he was giving all the decisions in favour of us.

Ref was utter shyte. Don't know how he books Haciney early doors for that 50/50, what ever happened to giving a player a warning that next time he does it then he gets booked?

A naughty foul by Lavery in McNair in the first half, looked like a nasty knee collision that came from an unnecessarily forceful challenge.

Ref didn’t even give a free kick.
I did wonder if Paddy had a travel blog slagging off Blackpool at one point, he got cleaned out three times for a game with little niggle or provocation it seemed odd.

Trying to show their commitment to the new gaffer maybe? I noticed they didn't try it on with Lenihan too much like.

Their fans had a little boo of Archer I thought, Preston connection I assume. Not sure if Blackpool/Blackburn is seen as a thing, but Lenihan didn't seem to get one.

Sometimes when there's an early booking it sets the tone and you end up with cards everywhere. With this ref it was like the early one got it out of his system. Lenihan should have gone in the book, as should their player who took out Forss by the Southwest corner.

But that little bald linesman looked like a raffle winner. He got just about every decision wrong.

He had to be talked in to booking Yates after he bust McNair's face, which I found strange.
That was close to us and I didn't think it was a booking and he only booked Yates when he saw the damage to Paddy's youthful good looks.

Poor referee but was inept in so many different ways that he did not influence the result (aside from the blatant trip on Chuba in the box and to be fair Chuba might well have missed from the spot)
