Tories back in poll lead, didn't take long ...

I don't think it's because the Tories are that good.
It's just labour is still perceived to be even worse.
Which of the two would you like to be in charge?
It's like asking do you want Garry Monk or Tony Pulis?

I would much rather a Labour government, that is for sure. The opposition may be perceived to be an option just as bad by certain people, but how/why I do not know for the life of me, I don't think anyone would be capable of leading another Govt as calamitous and crooked as this administration has to date :ROFLMAO: It has got to be the worst Government most people can remember in their lifetimes.

Certain types in the media like to convince people though, that there is no point voting them out because the opposition is just as bad a choice. So far, however, I am yet to be convinced Starmer is the man to lead Labour back into govt but that might change down the line, we will see.

Polls, outside elections are largely engineered to give a bias. You need to look at poll of polls to get a balanced view

Blyth Valley back Labour according to that. Let’s hope things keep getting progressively worse for the vile, corrupt Tories and they get annihilated at the next GE.

I remember watching the election coverage in 1997 and was a delight as cabinet minister after cabinet minister lost their seats - Edwina Currie, Malcolm Rifkind, Michael Portillo, Norman Lamont, David Mellor and more. Watching them getting wiped all over was amazing to see.

I watched highlights from the Labour conference - not anyone I will be voting for anytime soon - working class? L F***ing O L- absolutely nothing in common with these loons - and my pops created a Union from scratch in the 70's with the fragrant Brenda ( SOGAT). Even he says today is nuts/childish

Johnson is pushing voters away. It is up to Starmer to attract them now.

Labour do seem more organised behind the scenes.

I think the bbc are doing everything they can to present the pm is the best light they can

I'm not going to start a thread for last night's byelection, but if you can't even get out the people who voted for you at the last election when we have the scummiest government in living memory, then you ain't doing very well.

By elections generally have a much lower turnout, the weather was pretty cold and people are still concerned with Covid so standing in queues isn't something people want to do. The result was pretty much a foregone conclusion in a very strong, true blue safe seat.

The story should be the almost 11% swing to the Labour Party from the Tories in one of their strongest seats, which if replicated nationally would make Labour the biggest party in a General Election. Despite retaining the seat this will not sit comfortably with many at Tory HQ.

Labour need to get serious about co-operating with the other opposition parties and start having the serious conversations about co-operating together now, not later. It's complicated.
