Traitors - series 4

It was Ross. He is the best friend of one of my friends and I’ve met him a few times. He said he enjoyed doing it but it’s much harder than people think as you’re doing 12hr + days, bussed in and out from a hotel, no contact with anyone on the outside. You don’t spend anywhere near as much time in the castle as people think you do and it’s a very tight ship when it comes to filming.
Is that the lad who's mam was from Northern Ireland and also in the show?

Yeah that’s him, Diane is his mam. I’ve never met her though. I think she tried to ‘be a celebrity’ a little bit afterwards but it never amounted to much. Or at least, she got offered a few bits and pieces and said yes to them before the phone stopped ringing.

The whole Harriet thing was a car crash. Whilst she was on to Rachel she showed very little social intelligence. I think her position was that she actually wanted everyone to go with her and vote out Rachel but she didn't understand the group dymanic (or how to keep the information she thinks she gained for later and just survive). I think she had a bit of a superioity complex and when the round table was going against her, she would rather concede than let the traitors 'outplay' her. I think as some posters have said there was a degree of not being as motiavted as others to get any further due to her personal situation.

Still it caused an interesting episode. Looking forward to a round table where it's a bit more open tho
It shows the difference between intelligence and gameplaying. As a barrister she should be well aware that knowing the truth is not enough. It's all about who you can convince. The evidence might have been cast iron in her head but it was quite flimsy, anecdotal and based on feelings and hunches. She was right but she has no power to do anything with the information. She had been successful making her case against Hugo and I think she assumed everyone would just go along with her again and then when they didn't she was panicked.

I believe that things changed after series three, and that the celebrity version ushered in a new style which has continued into series four.
They really don't need to over-produce it because it is a game and it does create drama by itself. The whole game is based on lying and accusing people of being liars and people take it personally. It's also really obvious that there are no special skills that help you play it as we have seen from detectives that can't read anyone or barristers that can't present a case.

The only thing they need to manipulate as producers is making sure there are the right number of traitors to make the game even. I think they shot themselves in the foot in the last series where they had the "Seer" power which pretty much guaranteed the faithful would win and I don't think they'll make that mistake again which is why the secret traitor and the questions to the traitors are earlier in the game this series.

Yep 100%. I thought Amanda was similar. She thought she was 'better' at finding traitors. Despite the fact she was wrong, it's not how to play the game. It's a game of survival, there's not a scenario where you take out 4 traitors in the frist 4 days, then share the money equally between everyone. You are better off staying under the radar, befriend traitors, and build up a case. Instead of finding traitors you need to find a fellow faithful and stick together. Joe and Nick almost did that in the celebrity one and it would have worked but Nick panicked and did a u-turn.

I can't remember which series (maybe Australia or New Zealand or even Canada - I've watched a lot) where someone was so blatently a traitor. A faitfhul guy argued a case to keep them in and gain info. The whole group voted him out as they couldn't get their heads round why he wouldn't want to vote a traitor out. Even after he announced he was a faithful they were gobsmaked and continued to question it - clueless

Yeh, I've always said voting out traitors at the start is not the best gameplay if you want to win (as a faithful).

The more traitors you boot out, the more are recruited. There will always be at least 2 traitors at any time, up until the day before the final....

The best bet is finding a traitor, and keeping them in until the final and then trying to burn them when it's too late to be murdered yourself....obviously that is very hard to do...but it's what Joe tried to do in the Celebrity traitors (but got too cocky) and it's what Jaz tried to do in S2 (but again, he was let down by the biggest idiot to ever play the game).

I think she was on WILTY once wasn’t she? Or some similar game show.

Yeah totally with you on that. Joe got too cocky and it seemed traitor like to be so sure. Jaz played a blinder but had a faifthful with him that was a rabbit in the headlights. The best of both is what's needed but very hard to do like you say. Essentially it's a rigged game. It annoys me that some traitors think they are criminal masterminds when in reality you can just sit back and watch faithfuls self destruct, especially early on.

No idea! But probably. I can’t remember if she was/is retired or not, she was probably just enjoying her 15 minutes and making some cash.

Any other bits of behind the scenes info you can share, viv? Always fascinated by how these shows work in the background, and the little details. How far away are they needing to travel to the hotel every day? What time do they 'leave' the castle on a night? If you're murdered, surely you know you're getting murdered as you're needed to stick around later? Always seems to be that the murdered player is in the same clothing as the daytime, but might be editing there/asked to wear the same the next day)

Also, what is it with all them weird scenes of the players who are being discussed for murder? In the bath, in the shower, in a bed?! We all know they go to a hotel!

Jessie goes next. Stephen will portray it as "the traitors are trying to pin it on me".

Rachel has matronly control over everybody. She wins this.
