Trump cult woman took private jet to try and thwart democracy

It's going to be hilarious in the next few days as more of the terrorists appeal to Trump for a pardon. He can't win either way. Best case is he pardons himself and nobody else.
Found this list of pardons so far by Trump

After a quick scan things to note are:
1 There is a lot of them
2 They all seem to have been convicted
3 The are some very serious offences

Although it was reported he has pardoned some family members already but I don't think any of them have been convicted

What a crazy system.
Do you apply for a pardon or is the president continually looking for criminals he'd like to pardon ?

One in that list pardoned for Violation of the White Slave Traffic Act 😮

I do actually have a LITTLE bit of sympathy for some of these inbred brainwashed idiotic Trump supporters. I realise that what they did was totally undemocratic. However they believe Trump, and he kept telling them that the election was rigged, despite zero evidence. From what I've heard, channels like Fox News hardly help either.

Trump will probably be cracking on with a luxury lifestyle in future, whereas some of his supporters could be languishing in prisons for years to come, due to his incitement.

They've been played like pawns... albeit very stupid ones!

They may think twice about supporting a lunatic. Hope they all get 5 years in jail.
There is that! I read somewhere that the penalties for the crimes could go up to 20 years! (America do have some big sentences).

Trump will swan off in luxury, leaving his mug supporters to rot.

I also see in that list of pardons, which he has ramped up significantly since he lost the election, is Jared Kushner’s father - his daughter’s father in law. Nice to see nepotism at its finest.

Offence committed in 1920 ?

From wikipedia a pardon is "restoration of civil rights after prison sentence had been served"

which I would interpret as you would have to have been found guilty of an offence and served the sentence
DT has no time for that or any of the rioters will not be convicted by the 20th so the estate agent could not be pardoned by that definition. And I don't think JB will be in a rush after the rioters have been convicted and served the sentence

You would also have to question the validity of any attempt to pardon his children or himself, he can't restore civil rights that have yet to be taken away. You can't pre-emptively pardon, surely.

Wikipedia is an encyclopaedia, not a statute of US laws.

In US they can actually pardon pre-emptively before a conviction. That explains why Nixon was not prosecuted after Watergate, because Ford pardoned him.
agreed but if the US statute doesn't state what a pardon is then any attempt to pre-pardon could be questioned. Note with Nixon, he effectively handed over power and slunk off into the midst, he handed over power to a Republican president and by the time Carter came in it was 6 years since the start of watergate and people had moved on. Personally I think they should have tested the legality of that pardon.

Well yes but it is a quote from the written constitution , but Im not sure why you are convinced that a president can pre-emptively pardon ? As Boromart says the Nixon case was not tested in law and he had gone anyway. Lets see what Mr Trump does. That whole list of Trumps pardons so far have been convicted and served the sentence. So it would be very unusual for him to pardon anyone who has not been convicted. Then again it is Trump so expect the unexpected.
