Ugo Ehiogu Memorial

On brighton seafront there is a solid sheet of vertical aluminium and images are depicted on it ' the kiss wall' (artist/sculpture by Bruce Williams) - you can get good shading and depth - the images are made by drilling holes through the metal - you look through it and the sky/sea highlights the image - a 12ft one of those for Ugo would be lasting, to do something like this you need quality and thats what Ugo was, a quality footballer, a quality team mate and most important a quality human being .

personally i think he deserves more than a painted mural that is open to the elements that in 5 years will be weather worn.

I haven't got an artistic bone in my body so I'm no use for ideas . I just want to say what a fantastic idea to do something to honour one of the players who helped make the greatest sporting day of my life.

I would say they produce smaller more studio based works and in bobby's case more found objects/sculptural installations.

Jay Kaes has the most experience in larger scale public works, and would be the most suitable for this project I would have thought.

Zero Gradient (Stephen Irving) has done larger that studio work and works with stencils a fair bit.. I think he could come up with something interesting.

Kart Striker or 'Teesside's Banksy' is quite stylised from what I've seen, I'd like to see what he could come up with..

Following discussions with the Official supporters forum, it appears there may be some traction with creating a memorial to big Ugo.

This thread is to brainstorm ideas and suggestions of how best to commemorate him.

The initial suggestion was for a painted mural to be created either in and around the stadium. Somewhere public that would be a permanent reminder.

I had something like the following style in mind…however I have no idea about what picture to replicate etc so that’s open to discussion as well.

As a starter for 10, I’ve suggested the following locations…

Please feel free to make your suggestions for how you think we could best leave a lasting tribute to someone that died so young and gave us all some fantastic memories.
Etched glass picture of him over the top of that grey panelling would look amazing.

If there is a picture of him making the last minute block of a shot at Cardiff .............
