Another goal disallowed with a marginal call. Must have been a small part of Maddison's shoulder there. Looked a good goal
I was suprised at where the VAR officials froze the pictures as it looked to me as if the ball had left Justin's foot on the frame they used to show it was mm offside. It is vital that they get the timing right and I am not convinced that they always do.Another goal disallowed with a marginal call. Must have been a small part of Maddison's shoulder there. Agree it depends on the timing and maybe this one was designed to give Spurs a lifeline.I was suprised at where the VAR officials froze the pictures as it looked to me as if the ball had left Justin's foot on the frame they used to show it was mm offside. You must be as disappointed with it as the rest of us thenNo problem with VAR as long as it is consistent .
This is where cricket does better with an 'umpires call' for close decisionsAgree it depends on the timing and maybe this one was designed to give Spurs a lifeline.
If it‘s very tight though then at least it’s a marginal decision rather than an obvious error by a dodgy ref.
But this involves overturning an umpire's decision or not. As the linesman aren't flagging for offside how do you overrule or not when a decision hasn't been made? This is where cricket does better with an 'umpires call' for close decisions
For two reasons. Firstly, in most cases the assistant referees do flag, however the flag is delayed until a goal is scored (or the immediate attack is over). Secondly, if there's no flag then it's the decision not to flag that is being overturned, assuming the offside is ultimately given. But this involves overturning an umpire's decision or not.
