The big one start this Saturday. Note that the game is called Velogame XXIII (to avoid any copyright infringements with the TdF Official Fantasy Game)

New players welcome! Pick your Tour squad. 9 riders over various categories ( climbers, all rounders, sprinters and unclosed) with points scored for stage and classification positions, breakaways, and fina Tour results. No transfers in this game so once you have picked your squad no ongoing maintenance required.

Excellent. Just had a quick peruse of the field and was very surprised to see no Mark Padun in the Bahrain Victorious line up. This is the man who won the last two stages of the Dauphine in spectacular style and rode away from top GC riders.

He was originally earmarked to ride in the Tour but he’s been left out for a domestique sprinter Fred Wright.
 
Great. I've got a "placeholder" team entered. Need to change a couple of riders, and I have a few points left to play with.

Yes, this is very much "set and forget".
Or in my case "set and regret".
 
Can't wait. Especially now Cav is in. What a year he's having after pretty much being written off. Would be a remarkable come back if he wins just one stage at the TdF.

Now, the question is... do you put him in your fantasy team?

I am seriously considering it With the absence of Bennett, Viviani, Groenewegen, Ackermann and Nizzolo he could be a decent cheap option on the sprint stages.
 
He has shown a little bit of form, and only 8 credits. I'd love to see him roll back the years, but not sure it's gong to happen.

This is true. He'll basically have the best lead out team. Caleb is arguably the best sprinter at the race, but sometimes he disappears. Then you've got Demare, he's got some wins this season but in minor races. Merlier has been on form, but Cav has beat him.

Obviously the Cav of tours past would be relied on to be there in Paris. But not sure he’s now got it to last the distance? So for that reason sadly not for me.
