Viktor Eriksson links...

Borges has been featuring heavily in the media photos from the club, but Burgzorg hasn't featured at all.... so maybe Borges is an option. He had a good season at Bristol.

Malanda - Jones - Borges as a back three. Ayling can cover all three positions.
Archie Baptiste could make the step up too. He'll be 21 in October.
He did ok but then ended up on the bench for a while later in the season. You never know, but I'm not convinced he'll be a Hellberg sort of player. Burgzorg I wonder if something is already lined up for a move

Why are people assuming we’re going to sign another centre back? Edmundson is still around and the young lad Hunt. Ayling, Malanda, Jones, Edmundson and Hunt. The priority in defence has to be left back.
Why do people still bring up Hunt when Baptiste is the clear top prospect lol

I actually thought Borges played better as a CB than a left back, his pace wasn't as big as an issue and he could play out as good as anyone.
That was more a reflection on his performances as a LB. He has just been on loan at a side that conceded 12 more goals than us, finished 12th, and they have decide he wasn't good enough to sign permanently.

I didn't watch an awful lot of Bristol City games, but the games I saw of them when Borges played, he was dreadful.

Borges is good enough as a left sided centre back in a 3 or can do the orthodox full back role in a back 4, wingback however, he is not, neither was Targett
even if he did score twice in a game playing wingback

Left back is an issue, because if borges is deemed not good enough and Bangura seems to be permanently crocked then were reliant on the young lad
we signed from Villa who probably needs another loan

Is this not why you gave a squad of players with different but complimentary attributes?

General point not specific to the quality of Borges / Eddie in this case.
Oh yeah, I just meant in general, if we're being targeted aerially then Ayling would obviously be a weak link. Ayling has obviously been a success at centre back in Kim's or the clubs eyes, despite his obvious weakness as he's got another year after making plenty of appearances. As you say though, Ayling's attributes blended along with Malanda who is bigger, stronger and quicker worked fairly well. Borges and Malanda/Jones would probably work out alright in a lot of games too. Edmundson and Ayling, less so IMO.

I'd be quire happy to move Edmondson on and replace him with a young athletic player of the Dijksteel / Micah Richards type who can cover RB and RCB from the beach, gaining experience to replace Ayling in the squad next season.

Ayling is far far better than Borges.

I take it you are not a fan of his.
I have to be honest I didn't watch much of him last season, only going off the back end of the season beforehand when he played left side of a 3 and thought he played pretty well.
