Finally we get to see the plan via a freedom of information request. Previously we were told there was only a flu epidemic plan. What was needed for a coronavirus was stockpiles of PPE, a computerised contact tracing system and screening for foreign travellers.

In August the government refused to release the file saying it could “lead to loss of public confidence in the government’s and the NHS’ Covid-19 response … based on misinterpretation of the report.”

Meanwhile here in California the governor stated that they had been planning for years for this kind of pandemic— guess we ran out of PPE after three weeks, we didn’t have enough ICU’s, or nursing specialists… the list goes on. What can we gain from the last 18 months? Don’t trust the government on anything.
