That's just classic "whataboutery".
Nobody should be making fun of either incident and just because some idiots persist in doing so then it should not in any way excuse this lad getting his just deserts.

But there is a point to this isn't there, before people can genuinely move on as an individual or a group they need some closure, it's not whataboutery because do we know for definite if United fans would have started using Hillsborough without the decades of Liverpool fans shithousery. I wouldn't say something about Hillsborough but I'm not in the middle of that antagonism/ hate between them, you can either have some big brother style stick coming down to sort them out, or the various fans groups can try to build bridges, I know what I prefer, and if that means Liverpool have to take it on the chin and hold their hands up for their role in this , even better because it is genuine.

It's about taking responsibility for their role in this. That is being grown up and mature.
LFC fans need to take steps in this to close it and reach out to descent United fans.

Read the post, I'm trying to put the onus on Liverpool to stop it, they had decades of chanting about Munich before Man Utd got involved.

The onus is ion the individuals. I'm sure it's discouraged and i'm sure most fans from both sides hate it.
 
Its not just individuals is it , its individual acting out of beliefs and of their surrounding fan base, you need something symbolic in this instance which reaches out to a collective

No, you could also say in the match I sat in Liverpool's main stand against us in Oct//Nov 88 was it the fault of the people on that plane that crashed in Munich in 58 that Liverpool fans felt the need to get scarves with Munich on them, I know the answer but since you have thrown( mud) a version of it I put that one to you, I'm not sure you do?
HEY GUYS calm down, my aim is to say there is more responsibility in this( LFC) and that for it too move on, maybe the other side needs some form of group analogy, it's not about whataboutery, or Scouse blaming. But there is for definite a fan base more culpable in this and they need to acknowledge, it, you can't guarantee that Utd fans will let it go but it might help. I'm going to jump out of this thread now because as much as I like this forum there is a collective tag team that turn up for some moral and political issues and can be very persistent. Xx

We must all take responsibility for our own actions - at the end of the days that’s all that we can control. The past is the past I expect apologies will not be forthcoming from either side but that’s not an excuse for others to act this way!

They have done. Over and over again. Pretty much every game between the clubs for the last few years has seen joint statements (either from the clubs or from fan groups) calling for an end to these chants from both sides.

But the fans themselves need to reach out and work for it, there where the problem started and where it will be resolved and I'm not saying Utd don't have to do anything their descent fans need to help this process.
