What can you say about that?

Our only creative outlet with McGree first half. Give Coventry credit, game plan was to put us off our stride and frustrate the crowd. Then they turned it up a notch at the start of the second half, scored and sat back. We needed to get a lead after the first game or score early tonight. Robins is a good manager.
Problem was ,he created nothing, even when he got into some great positions he did nothing with the ball then went missing in the second half.

We did change it. Replacing Smith, Forss and Mowett was the right call. We brought McNair off for Crooks, should we have done that too on 66 minutes?

The only alternative would have been to bring Crooks on for Archer earlier, but there's no reason to suggest that would've changed the result.

In fact, Steffen should have gone up for all the free kicks and corners. He would have at least scored one. Anyone can claim their hindsight subs would have worked out better, which is a viable opinion when there's genuine game changers on the bench.
Did the changes work? Were they done at the right time?

It's irrelevant whether you asked us to concede a bunch of chances. We created chances because we gambled more. We conceded more chances because we gambled more.

We lost because Coventry scored and we didn't. Not because he waited until the last ten minutes to bring off a player who has been excellent for us all season to bring on a player who has been a bit part in our success.
We lost because we didn’t turn up and our manager didn’t react in a timely manner

Would any alternative have worked? Would starting Jones and Crooks instead of Forss and Archer have worked?

Pointless questions in hindsight. Coventry got their tactics spot on and deserved to win.
We’ll never know because he waited far too long to make any change. Tonight was dreadful and he did nothing to fix it.

We made such an effort to catch sheff utd we couldn't sustain that level after 2nd was gone especially as injuries just hit us at the wrong time.

Dreadful? Inept? Uninspiring? Tactically naive? Complete lack of coaching and ability to change?
He might have learnt from Sir Alex but he's nowhere close, tonight was a disgrace and he's the manager so he carries the can.

Bit OTT. One of the teams had to lose tonight. It happens. Nobody died.

I always find it very odd when fans of clubs like ours go into meltdown over losing a match. How are you not used to it?

I think our build up was just too slow and predictable which made it even easier for Coventry to defend. Chuba was clearly knacked by that challenge early on and should have been replaced by Crooks much earlier. Sometimes you just need to change things radically during a game and tonight was one of those times when we needed to get the ball forward far more quickly, even if that meant abandoning some of our passing principles. It’s sickening because we had an amazing opportunity to reach the premier league and we’ve blown it

This was our best chance in years to be promoted and we bottled it. There’s no meltdown only complete disappointment and realism about how our squad will be radically different next year so it’s not a case of just going again.
