What happened at Oldham?

Am working but seems crowd trouble got the game abandoned in injury time.
I'm assuming Oldham losing 2-1 - and going out the League - had something to do with it, and trust the result will stand??

Wigan were non-league up to 1978 and they've been in the Prem.
I presume they mean first team to be non league during the lifetime of the Premier League to make it to the Premier League? Because otherwise there were founder teams who had spent time in Non-League, including us, as we were Northern League back in the 1800s.

If that's the criteria then, yes, I think Luton would be the first. Despite the fact they were still in the first division when the breakaway was announced.

"....first former Premier League side to be relegated from the EFL"

Wow

I can remember a dreary midweek (Monday?) nil nil with Oldham in that first Premiership season that was live on Sky (and came complete with inflatable Sumo wrestlers at half time).
Yeah I remember that. I also recall a 0-1 with Andy Richie scoring. Maybe the year after? Did they get relegated with us? (Unless I've imagined the whole thing)

Don’t think it was a 0-0.
Might be wrong but I vaguely remember losing 3-2 two late goals cos I remember walking out and Boro scored a consolation….

Was one of the first games I went to

I was pretty sure you were right. Then I checked and they just surged with Palace going down that year and then Oldham came down the next. Did we play them in the cup that season or was the match you were thinking about the next season?
