Whens the last time we scored a header from a corner?

We seem to have a developed a knack of various players, both sides of the pitch, right or left footed - all perfecting taking corners for the keeper to catch the ball around about the centre of goal on the six yard box unchallenged
In a way it's quite amusing how consistent they are
I completely disagree, Barlaser was guilty of this vs QPR bit other than that it's not a common occurrence

I HATE SHORT CORNERS!!!!! NO SHORT CORNERS NOW OR EVER!!!!!!!!

I noted a few weeks ago that Howson was dropping in against the touch line on the right, about 15 yards out and it was played to him to whip a cross deeper into the box..

it looked good but still didn’t get anything from it…

can’t say I’ve expected us to get a good header on a corner since Ayala left, Gibson put him self in there too…

Chubba tries, but delivery isn’t always the best, we should be looking to get back post or further to head back in and turn the defence…

Its like kick off. Everyone used to lump it forward like in rugby. Now's it's quite rightly treated like any other attacking move.
For us corners should be passed to McGree/Ramsey and let them do their stuff as normal. Frighten the life out of defenders

We've been awful from corners for years. I mean really offering no threat whatsoever.

We were even awful with setplay specialists like Pulis and Warnock. The last real threat was Ayala. We somehow even nutralized the threat of corner King Flint 😂.

It's really odd that the likes of Lenihan and Fry don't win more headers or even go close. They are 'units' with physical presence. So simply don't understand why they don't score more.

You look at some clubs who have scored nearly 20 goals from setplays. It's basically 'a free cross into the box'. It's odd that given the quality in our side we don't score more. That's from height to delivery.

That said don't expect anything to improve. We still get them from other methods. So I guess it's not overly an issue. That said I do love a good bullet header from a CB👌

I think we grossly overestimate what high production from set pieces looks like.
This is from whoscored for this season: 0.3 goals per 90 minutes from set piece; bang in the middle of the pack, and only bettered by 3 other teams. Admittedly MIllwall are particularly good.

You could argue that we attack more, we score more, and therefore should get more from everywhere. Well that's only been true of this season, and the last 20 matches in particular. However, set pieces have always been the great leveller haven't they? They're how weak teams score against good teams due to the element of chaos involved. Our superiority is shown by our goalscoring from open play.

I'm certainly not a fan of Liverpool.
But I was impressed how their team of the last couple of years would score more than its fair share of 'cheap' set piece goals alongside the Salah specials. Van Dyke was an absolute beast for them during this time.

.......According to Opta, Liverpool have scored 23 goals from or following set pieces in all competitions this season, the joint-most in Europe,
tactics

I agree it feels we haven't had a natural aggressive ball winner at corners for years.

The last great spell I remember was the Pallister/Mowbray combination. Think it was Pally with the flick-ons? Even this period didn't last very long.

Ayala?
Ugo Ehiogu?

without short corners we could never enjoy the absolute sh!thousery of number 5 on this video
That sort of thing really boils my pee.

If a defender had run over and put it out for a throw he'd have been yellow carded.

The attackers wouldn't have said it was in play.

It's unsporting /ungentlemanly in my opinion.
