Where are all the insects

Weirdly enough I just picked up my towel from the side of the bath and there was this little baby slug under it. Totally gross. I hate slugs. It must have crawled up through the plughole.

We've got tons in our garden. We have a lot of lavender so get tons of bees. Mowing along that section is interesting! They all swarm around you but never been stung.

Tons of lady birds, squillions of ants, hover flies, some dragonflies/damson flies.

Our car always covered in flies when we do a long drive, or a couple on short ones. It's white too so it shows up loads (n)

I have friends who have colourful garden full of all kinds of flowers , apple trees and other fruits. They were saying a few weeks ago they have not seen any butterflies this year, usually they have loads.

I can personally confirm the horse fly population to be booming this year, They are eating my horses alive and me when I muck out the field the little barstewards.

It has been a cool wet spring and early summer which is probably not good for many insects.

Bees and wasps have been in decline for years - some disease is killing many off and experts are not sure of the cause.

More chemicals than ever are being used by farmers which is bad of insects, plus intensive mono culture in farming. Modern farming practice is in general working against nature not with it. So you will see a giant field of say yellow rapeseed oil, but nothing else in the field. There will be no margins to the field nor neglected scrub. The soil will be fairly dead and only be fertile by applying lots of artificial fertiliser. The quality of food produced on such land is not high which could be leading some of our increased medical problems e.g. increased cancer rates in the under 60s.

Gardens are getting smaller and quite a few new houses have no front garden and the rear garden is very limited often dominated by a large patio and/or decking. Nowadays I let a lot more garden grow wild as this gives more life to insects. Insects then attract birds and some small mammals. The quality of the soil improves itself too.

Havent noticed a decline in my own garden

Plenty of bees, lady birds, bugs etc millions of bloody woodlice

Not seen so many butterflies but they usually get more common towards end of July.

As an allotment gardener I have been concerned at the lack of pollinators now that the tomatoes are in flower, and this video came up in my feed so I had a quick look

But what actually concerns me more is the amount of people in the comments suggesting that 'they' are spraying chemicals in the air, geoengineering or whatever they call it, and that's the problem. Evidence is the 'chemtrails' you can see by passing aeroplanes.

One or two crackpots you can expect, but it seems half the population these days are just F***ing lunatics
Ponder on this for a minute, The state of Tennessee has passed a bill banning geo-engineering in April this year. My question to you is how can you ban something that does not exist? By the way Mexico has as well ???? So who is the lunatic really

Been riding a motorbike since the mid-80's. Used to be if I went more than 100 miles in the summer, I would have to clean the visor when I stopped at a garage for petrol. From sometime in the early 2000s I stopped having to do that. Didn't really notice at first.

Dumb Americans can ban things that don't exist :)
