Where The Crawdads Sing

Mrs read the book a while ago, watched the film a couple of nights ago (sky/ Netflix 🤷‍♂️) didn’t fancy, from the cover on the book I assumed it was a slavery type thing, it isn’t . It turned out to be really really good movie, as Brian M says, wonderful.

Mrs Flash said the main character in the movie comes across not like you envisage from the book, but perfect for a film.
I agree with Mrs Flash on that.

I have no problem accepting that the book is excellent and better than the film form people who have done both.
But in isolation the film is far from dull, it is excellent.Having spent time on the Louisiana swamp it brought back some wonderful memories too for me (I know it is set in Carolina, but it was all filmed in Louisiana.

Haven't yet. But it's on the list.
We watched A Man Called Otto last weekend. It's great too. I had read the book and I thought they did well with it.
I will try and catch your recommendation over the weekend 😊
The original? It's excellent, heard the remake isn't a patch?

I haven't read the book but saw the film-crawdads, really enjoyed it.

I find that treating films based on books as a separate entity, your interpretation of both is never the same.
I felt the same way about The Da Vinci Code. So much detail in the book that could never be replicated in a movie.

I read "Where The Crawdad's Sing", almost in one go, and have watched the film since, but it doesn't live up to expectation in my opinion. I find that many books don't live up to the film hype for example. "Of Mice and Men", "Stand By Me", and "East Of Eden" to name a few.

EDIT: The film does not reflect the book and its ending, deviating from the book by a big margin.
