Which bands/artists did your folks play when you were a nipper

Lots of Beatles. I also remember Johnny cash, derek and the dominoes, lots of Motown… my dad loved the volume 6(??) either the reflective cover

T-Rex, The Beatles, The Beachboys, The Monkees, The Hollies, The Drifters, The Who

Any bands beginning with the letter T it seems. I remember dad always getting The Pointer Sisters name wrong, always made me chuckle, he always called them The Pointy Sisters 😁

Oh I left off my list Ray Charles. My dad loved him. We played 'I Can't Stop Loving You' at his funeral. My dad never really spoke of why he loved him, Belafonte and Robeson. It was only after he'd gone I realised it was because they were all involved in the US civil rights battle.

If Mam was up first we were woken to the sounds of
Englebert Humperdink or Frank Sinatra.

If Dad was up first it was
Shirley Bassey or Montavani..

If they got up together it was the Top of the Pops album that was out that year.

sunday was the day for the old fellas music.andy williams perry como.jim reeves, and we had to listen to his favourite radio show sing something simple

Oasis and Nirvana mainly bit of the verve on occasion but we didn't really listen to music in the house only in the car on long road trips.

I know my dad used to listen to Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, The Beatles, Fleetwood Mac amongst others that I can't remember.

My music taste that I am glad for btw comes from my old man

For dad it was Royal Marines Military band (he was in the marines). He had no time for anything else.
For mum it was Sinatra.
Meanwhile, I was in my bedroom listening to Velvet Underground, Doors, Joy Division etc.
We did find common ground with Louis Armstrong, though.
