Who could really blame Wilder if he walked?

His expectations- by what he has said- was we would be successful in bringing in 3 additions that were vital for us to move forward with a more balanced squad for the remainder of the season. This hasn’t happened.

Excuses will no doubt be aplenty- this will fail to mask the fact that ultimately the recruitment team have failed to deliver when the chips are down.

To a lot of posters this will not come as a surprise. It demonstrates why there is a lack of confidence in our ability to compete for some signings and questions the wisdom of selling Tav without having someone lined up.

The critics of us who questioned the wisdom of leaving activity until the closure of the window got it wrong - badly wrong. Straw clutches asked we wait till the window closed - we have and were vindicated in concerns . Will they hold their hands up now and acknowledge they were wrong? Of course not!

I believe Monday’s game has taken on greater significance. A poor result and Wilder could reflect on his position and what he can achieve with a squad that doesn’t match his requirements.

So our amateur haphazard recruitment efforts could have far greater ramifications for us. This isn’t negatively- it’s a realistic possibility.

Four new strikers not enough! Maybe a defensive midfielder free agent.. but we have the money to make that happen

If he’s got the players and then gone to Bournemouth I would have been angry but why shouldn’t he walk to a ready made Prem team now. The inaction of our recruitment team probably means it’s another year before we can have a realistic chance at promotion -I hope I’m wrong!

As Jonny Logan put it so well.

'What's Another Year'?

Coming from the guy who signed oli mcburnie for £20m I would find that a little off! Muniz & Akpom with Forss & Hoppe should be more than enough with Watmore in reserve. Again a free agent isn’t out of the question.. but still!
On what has been seen there is only one of these I would have confidence in delivering but hey others may have different judgments on what they expect and how they define strikers

Numbers are more important than quality and is the way forward is it? I know that is a flawed viewpoint.
Then look at the quality of those coming in and going out, with only one exception, the runner who had a decent half season.

We're a much stronger squad.

Can we please stop saying managers sign players, they don’t, clubs do, who knows if McBurnie was a Wilder first choice signing or a clubs recruitment signing.

Forss, Akpomb, Hoppe and to some extent Muniz are unproven. Our manager called Forss and Hoppe development signings, that does not scream Wilder was desperate to bring them in, it sounds more like a recruitment team project to maybe moneyball on in the future. Akpomb has never been prolific. We all want them to be successful, but there is never a guarantee as we know and their success to date is largely unproven, like it was in Fletcher for example.
