Who could we catch in the play off positions?

I thought Reading, but they looked absolutely quality last night - Swift, Ejaria and Lucas Joao bossed it

I didn’t think Swansea were all that good but somehow they are 2nd? Norwich are surely going to win the league.

Well we are 6 points behind Bournemouth with 2 games in hand. So they would be our immediate team to try and catch and get level with and then try kick on from there

Any of the 4 in the play-off spots.

They're all capable of bad results and are far from unbeatable.

As it stands we are guaranteed to overtake Bournemouth if we win our next 3 games.

Personally dont see us making the play offs. Hope I'm wrong but we don't seem to be able to get a head of steam up with losses to Preston, Sheff Wed and Birmingham. We could be boosted by a couple of signings which for me is our only hope of challenging. The present squad will fall short.

Any of them, we have a great final 6 games, and could easily gatecrash as long as we are within 5 or 6 points of play offs with 6 to play.

Barnsley (A)
QPR (H)
Rotherham (A)
Sheff Wed (H)
Luton (A)
Wycombe (H)

Any team that we are no more than 6 points behind will need an unbeaten finish to stay ahead of us. If a team have a tough run in we might be able to claw back 8-9 points in those last 6.

I think Reading will struggle right at the death (tough run in: Watford (a), Cardiff (H), Luton (A), Swansea (H), Norwich (A), Huddersfield (H)), possibly Bournemouth and Watford too. The big worry for me is that Stoke might finally get their sh.. together and make it into a play off slot making it harder for us.

Bournemouth are looking very much out of place. Plenty of games to go, but I think we’ll still be squabbling with Stoke over the last playoff place, can’t seem to get away from them the last few seasons.

We are only halfway through the season, anything can happen both positive and negative.
Such a long way to go to try and start predicting finishing positions, all teams will have bad runs, we just need to hang on in there, Warnockis a master of managing these sort of situations, don't give up yet by anymeans boys ..

We can catch all of em. There is none of them that are any great shakes and the rub of the green and more consistent performances (this is the problem) will see us climb into the playoff places.

Make no mistake, the top 6 are looking anxiously over their shoulders.

I doubt Norwich are looking back anxiously. 13 points ahead of the team in 7th, I think they won't be losing any sleep at the moment.

Hand on heart probably non of them, without a significant improvement on the creativity and finishing front.

Fletcher comes back and has a purple patch maybe, Roberts pulls his head out of his **** and does what the manager wants or a couple of signings transform us maybe?

But if we continue as is, even with a slight improvement I can't see us getting into the top six and maintaining it with any consistency.

Luckily we have the the old master at this stuff at the helm, so maybe, just maybe he can pull it off.

Fingers crossed.

but only 7 points from dropping into a play-off place so I suspect they are anxious. They have dropped 4 points in their last 4 games so they are doing great, but not really pulling away. I really don't believe there is much between any of the teams this season and luck is going to play a big part in the final table.

You say that Caesium, but our form over the last 8 games puts us in 6th position and a playoff place. I think we all tend to look at our own team, and think other teams are having it easy, or are more consistent than us, or are better at finishing. We are 6th for goals scored, out of the top 10 and 3rd for goals conceded in the top 10. We are rubbish in front of goal, but most championship clubs are and will miss as many as we do.

I see that, I just feel we'll fall short without improvements or additions that make us more of a threat. Ever since we settled in the top 6 earlier in the season many on the board have had us easily 'winning our next three' and we haven't.

It is immensely frustrating that for the price of Gestede or Braithwaite Warnock could have probably built us a squad to push the top two all season.

Britt & Akpom are not going to give teams enough problems for us to realistically challenge, and our midfielders are pretty goal shy too.

You never know, Fletcher might come back and be amazing, aided by a fully fit Watmore and fire us to where we need to be.

Watching us, I just don't see enough goal threat, creativity, set piece goals, pace etc. for us to challenge. We seem to be two steps forward one back. We also have a wafer thin squad with barely any defensive cover.

If we stay injury free for the rest of the season, which I doubt, we've already lost Browne, Fletcher and Hall for most of the season to date, and Browne now for the rest of it, we may have a chance.

Like I said, we have the best guy at the helm, but he can only do so much without squad strengthening, or some incredible good fortune.

We 'can' do it obviously, but I just feel without attacking improvements and good luck with defensive injuries we'll just miss out.

In Warnock we trust.

You may be right, we do, it appears have a winger coming in. Fletcher may make a difference, he certainly gives another option. Injuries, as you say may scupper our chances, but the same could be said of otehr sides.

I think we will be right there until the end of the season, will we miss out? Maybe, but we go again next year and we get, probably, back in the ground to cheer the boys on to the championship title.

For balance my dad thinks we'll be lucky not to get relegated.

. We are 6th for goals scored, out of the top 10.
Or, to put it another way, no team in the top 8 has scored fewer than Boro. It's the profligacy in front of goal that costs Boro points whenever they don't win. In the defeat against Birmingham, Assombalonga sliced a shot wide that should have brought a goal, and at least a point. Boro never get hammered by anyone, it's always close going into the final minutes. Good goalscorers turn defeats into draws, and draws into wins, but that just doesn't happen with Akpom and Assombalonga.

I think we'll come close but just miss out (much better than I had predicted at the start of the season!)

Biggest issue for me is the size of the squad. I don't think we've got the quality in depth with so many games in quick succession to make the step up.

Thats the spirit lads, Soutra for balance, Watford in 3rd place have scored the same as us and Swansea in second1 more goals than us. We have a game in hand of both of them. I agree we could use more goals, but it's not like we are misfiring and the teams above us are scoring freely, that just isnt the case.
