Who could we catch in the play off positions?

Thats the spirit lads, Soutra for balance, Watford in 3rd place have scored the same as us and Swansea in second1 more goals than us. We have a game in hand of both of them. I agree we could use more goals, but it's not like we are misfiring and the teams above us are scoring freely, that just isnt the case.
Maybe not, but the teams above Boro are scoring regularly, Boro are not. 8 blanks so far this season for Boro, Brentford and Bournemouth (the play off teams closest) score much more consistently. Firing a blank costs at least two points every time.

Good point on the blanks but Watford do have 8 also, bournemouth 6 I believe. I do get your point, my point is we are looking at the poor finishing from boro and suggesting it is poor enough to keep us out of the playoffs. I am merely pointing out that there are teams in the playoffs whos scoring record is on a par with ours. Some, admittedly are much better

I thought Reading, but they looked absolutely quality last night - Swift, Ejaria and Lucas Joao bossed it

I didn’t think Swansea were all that good but somehow they are 2nd? Norwich are surely going to win the league.
Only saw the highlights of the Reading match on Sky sports news but Coventry should have been two up before Reading scored. Different game then. Every team can be beaten in this league.

We need to start with tonight, put in a mighty performance and close the gap.
All we can do is win and keep winning

Here's the problem -

Norwich have scored in 20 of 24 (83%)
Swansea have scored in 19 of 24 (79%)
Watford have scored in 17 of 24 (71%)
Reading have scored in 20 of 24 (83%)
Bournemouth have scored in 19 of 25 (76%)
Brentford have scored in 18 of 22 (82%)
Stoke have scored in 17 of 25 (68%)
Boro have scored in 15 of 23 (65%)

Boro have a good defence, but just a few more goals for would have brought lots more points. I'm sure Neil Warnock knows this, but like every manager in the last 6 years, he hasn't been able to do anything about it.

Good stats lookup Soutra. I still believe we will get in the play offs and I suspect in our promotion season we had a low comparative percentage of games we scored in too.

We score in our game in hand and we are one behind Watford and equal with Stoke.

I do take your point I just don't believe it is s problematic as you do. Our standard of play in some of our games is a much bigger problem in my opinion. Against Birmingham we never really got going. There have been other poor performances pne was one too.

I agree with you on that laughing, but in most of the games we've been really poor in we've still had two or three good to decent chances we've missed. It's these lack of clinical finishing chances that I fear will haunt us. A three goals scored win is nice of course but fwith a bit more quality and scoring four more goals where we drew blanks we'd be safely in the pack.

Hopefully Warwick can address it before the window 'slams' shut......
