Who has had the better season?

It doesn't matter how you dress it up, it was a Mickey Mouse trophy and the lack of fans in attendance for the final games proves that. There were 15,000 at Ayersom Park (of which I was one) and 13,723 at Craven Cottage. We had more in attendance for our League Cup 4th round game against Peterborough (17,749).

Over the years, even our own fans have poked fun at it being our only main trophy win.
Yes I know. The reason I used it was because due to its lowly status there was no European Qualification through it.
QPR would never have swapped second place for it. But I know some Boro fans who held it very dear to their hearts. At least until 2004 anyway.
Decades of promising much but winning nothing. Then 20 yrs in the wilderness, followed by Big Jack's promotion charge and the nearly season of 74/75.
This was at last something tangible to show for it all.

I wouldn't have swapped a Panini shiny sticker for it and this is why I can't understand you even bringing the Anglo Scottish into the conversation.

West Ham. Trophy win.
As for trophies, I would rather win any cup than finish 4th in a division.
I’d take the FA cup over any of that, which in my opinion is only bettered by being champions.
Portsmouth won the FA cup recently as did Wigan, what do you think their supporters remember?

Because it is not all about you.

With regard to the original question, I think Newcastle have had the better overall season but West Ham will remember it for longer because of the European trophy.
And I don't think the majority of either set of fans would swap their season for the other's.

As a fan
Trips around Europe, and, god forbid winning something, for the first time, in memories. Wins over 4th and flag waving ...
End of next season, with their resources? Maybe Saudi fc will be happier

Newcastle or West Ham?

Seeing a lot of this discussion on social media inside the last 12-18 hours.

Newcastle 1 cup final (lost) and finished 4th - qualified for Champions League.
West Ham 1 cup final (won) and finished 14th - qualified for Europa League.

Personally I think winning any European trophy is well above finishing in any league position (other than first of course).

A lot of Newcastle fans wouldn't swap their 4th place finish for the trophy West Ham won...this is the same team that have gone over 60 years without any silverware. Astonishing to see the amount who agree with this too.

I would even say I'd swap Arsenal's season for West Ham's season, even though Arteta has done a fantastic job there this season.
Newcastle have clearly had the better season.
West Ham have taken a better memory from it. The conference League I'd getting massively talked up though just because West Ham won it. Does anyone have any recollection of who won it last season? Probably not.

Yeah, they made a pretty big deal out of Mourinho winning it with Roma.

It was treated seriously then too.
