My first car was a red Nova SR, B reg. I wrote it off and bought a chocolate brown one with yellow/brown tartan interior. I never saw another like it. Friends berated me for driving a "poo" mobile but i wish i had it now.
A mate had a custard Yellow XR3 and again, he wrote it off. Later found out it was a ford showroom special edition, one-off colour.
There was a garage in Leeming bar that had a bronze coloured Renault 5 Gordini, mid-engined, super wide. It looked like it was there to die and rot. That would be some barn find now. I wonder if its still there?
Remember driving my dad's Cortina in the late '70s. I think Ford must have only had about 4 different keys. Parked up at the shops, came back out and got in the car. Looked in the mirror to back out of the space to see a dog in the back ...................... eh? we don't have a f**king dog. Turned out that someone had parked an identical colour and spec car 2 or 3 spaces from ours.
I think there was a piece on 'That's Life' about some Boro fans who got their Ford keys mixed up and discovered they all fitted each others cars.
