Who was best, Viduka, Boksic or Ravanelli?

I think it will have been the toughest call for Gibson to make.
I remember him saying Newcastle offered Viduka £85k per week in summer 2007 and Gibson said to match it (and the length of contract offered) would have cost over half the crowd receipts per season.
Gibson knew just how good Viduka was and how important he had been and I believe it will have hurt him as much as any Boro fan to see Mark go where he really didn't want to.
Vids took £9m from Newcastle across 2 seasons, for 7 goals in 38 appearances where he was very often injured.
I was gutted to see my favourite ever Boro striker leave and to go there.
It would be easy to say Viduka would have kept us up - had he stayed fit. I genuinely think he would.
However let's be clear the club sunk money later that summer into Mido £6m fee and huge wages, then shortly afterwards £13m and huge wages into Afonso Alves.
With hindsight letting Viduka go was a mistake both from a football and financial perspective, but everyone has 20/20 hindsight.

There are parallels with Bamford (obviously on lower stakes and ability).
Look after the bits of class you have.
We should have kept both Viduka and Bamford, but we either signed or kept horrendous alternatives instead.

I'm thinking that Afonso Alves would get my vote for most disappointing striker v the money spent on him.
