Who was best, Viduka, Boksic or Ravanelli?

Why didn't Hendrie take pens?

In our promotion season I remember Chris Morris away at Wolves and Neil Cox Luton at home missing.

Bizarre selections in hindsight in such big games

Thanks!

Not many as Hamilton took them for a time. I'll go for four.
I was going to post a FAO bear, since you posted that song chumba something & hearing Peter Postlethwaite lines off Brassed Off that is a film I'm going to watch on my days off 👍

I remember us signing Hasselbaink AND Viduka that summer and it just seemed surreal. Two top Premier League strikers signing for us. It's no surprise that was our most successful season ever in the Premier League with firepower like that !!

Hasselbaink was a bit of a player as well, I liked Jimmy and I liked his attitude more than anything. Remember those free kicks....

Seem to remember Wilkinson scoring a few but might have been from the 1st promotion he had with us under Lennie

I dont recall him taking any. Hignett took a few. Fjortoft didnt seem to either

I know Bernie scored our final penalty before we went in to liquidation when we played at home to Millwall
We won 3-0

That free kick vs Man City is up there as one of the best I have ever seen from any player, never mind a Boro player. It was just pure power from a very long way out. David James was an England international but he had no chance with that. An important goal in a massive game. Ohh Jimmy Jimmy!

Was that this one?

One step

Two step

BANG!

Wilko scored just the 4 amungst all his goals 2 in 93/94 and 2 in 94/95

With regards to slaven i seem to recall Glover, Parkinson and Phillips mainly having penalty duties? (Missed Baird)

In the clip below he scores penalties against blackburn, brighton x2 and southend but you didnt get every game on the season reviews until 91/92 so some are bound to be missing

He missed one at the Holgate End against Ipswich in the 90th minute when the score was 2-2

Trip down memory lane ...

Slaven pennas =, yes just 4 out of 5 taken, he missed the last one a late miss to win the game vs Ipswich after having an argument with Wilkinson about who was going to take it. Most of his time the designated penalty taker was Laws, then Glover, then Parkinson. then Baird, then Wilkinson. He had 3 pennas in a couple of months then Wilkinson took over duties.

Grabbed the ball off Parky & proceeded to boat the ball over the bar & into the holgate, just as the ball was returned from orbit to the Ipswich keeper to launch the ball from his goalkick the ref blew full tixk

Bernie apologised over the mike to Parky 10 years later at a Parky benefit night

Bryan Robson stated in an interview that Boksic was the best player he'd ever seen. That probably tells you something. However, it's got to be Viduka in my opinion. He's been the best forward for Boro in my lifetime.
