Been consistently saying France for a while. I’ve got a sneaky feeling all is not well in the camp and there’s some resentment to Mbappe. Hopefully they’ll have a similar camp as to the catastrophic one of 2002. Maybe wishful thinking.

Anyway, changed vote to Portugal. Some outrageous talent in that squad also.

Please god I can't cope with CR lifting the trophy

Not Brazil. The Brazilians are not impressed by Ancelotti. They think he's took the job for retirement and to sit by the beach. I don't really want to pick a winner until we have the brackets. Too complicated to work out potential draws with 3 teams in a lot of groups going through and paths changing depending on which teams go through. If someone gave me the brackets filled in for the knockouts I might be able to pick a team.

As for Neymar he won't play at least the first game. He's injured. He's finished as a top player. Wouldn't surprise me if he didn't play a single minute in the group stage.

France or Spain. ,Japan as very dark horses but you can't sniff at their pre tournament results.
Not saying they won’t have a decent tournament but given there have been 6 winners since England won it 60 years ago, and one of those hasn’t qualified, I’d say Japan are a bit more than dark horses! Especially since they’ve never been past the second round.

Between us and Spain.

I think us and Spain have the best group of players.

France has some unbelievable attacking players, but I don't see a team there.

I see a team when I look at Spain (who are my favs) and England (who I fancy to go all the way).

Portugal also have an unbelievable first 10, but they're clearly going to be ruined by not dropping Homelander.

Brazil are a mini France....excellent attacking players, but their ego will get in the way.

Argentina to go back to back? I can't see it....although if Messi does decide to turn it on, then the likelihood is, we are all toast.

Ive gone France as well although a European team has never won on the American continent so maybe the value is Brazil/Argentina

Argentina weren’t really expected to win in 2022 and no one has retained it since Brazil in 1962. So I am pretty much ruling them out, especially as Messi is 4 years older.

Portugal have a good squad but Ronaldo is too self-centred.

I think it’s between France, Spain, England, Germany and Brazil. Germany are the “dark horses” although it does seem odd calling them that when only one team has won it more.

Definetly makes for a great tournament when it gets to the knockouts, plenty of teams who have a genuine shot.

Seems likely we will come up against Brazil in the quarters if it goes the way we expect before that.

Mouthwatering

Been giving this some thought over the weekend.

In terms of the best Squad, you can't really look past France. However, there are a couple of potential concerns. Firstly, the manager Dechamps, he is often compared to Southgate in that he takes a negative approach despite all the attacking talent and players like Rabiot continue to make the team. He does hold them back somewhat in my opinion. Secondly, and this is as much a positive as it is a negative is their a such thing as too much talent and ego's to manage? which leads to the third point which is the France are on fall out/hissy fit from it all going wrong. That said, if it clicks, they win.

Given all the talk of the heat etc, im inclined to lean towards Spain, Argentina and Brazil. Spain will keep the ball against most teams so will certainly be there or thereabouts. South Americans typically shine outside of Europe. I would not say they have the best team but the players do seem to raise their game, it always feels likes the South Americans play like their lives depend on it. Thats said, back to back winners are rare in fact Brazil last did it 1958/62.

Then i have Brazil. Now, Brazil have been poor for a long time now and i still some flaws in their squad but i do think Ancelotti could be a big factor. Conditions will suit and i just have a feeling they are going to turn up to this one.

I file Portugal with England, potential and more than capable squad but ultimately wont get over the line.

My pick: Brazil

Japan are like Mexico. Great in the group stage and then beat in the first knockout rounds but they will be trouble for anyone in the groups.

Expect Mexico could further being hosts. If all goes to plan it would be Mexico v England in the Last 16 i think

I've gone with Spain but that could change yet.

Fancy a double on Turkey and Norway making it to at least the QFs too.
